Today your chef will be preparing a simple, yet tasty Parmesan Baked Salmon. You should all be eating fish at least three times a week. It is low in fat, high in protein and an excellent source of omega 3 fatty acids which are good for your heart. So eat. Up.
Now. Meet your chef: This is Laina. She enjoys playing, acting, talking, and barking like a dog. Her favorite movies are Lady and the Tramp and Homeward Bound and she is PISSED because she read yesterday’s post and she knows you all want to deny her the one true love of her life. A real dog. She’ll understand when she’s older.
Combine parmasean cheese, red pepper (cayenne), and mayo in a bowl. That’s right mayo. So ALL that talk about eating well pretty goes out the window when we slap a bunch of mayonaise on our healthy fish. Whatev. It’s good.
Now mix…and remember posture is everything. Keep those elbows high:
Caution: When cooking with small children beware of leftover ingredients, they may feel inclined to taste when you turn your back. After a small distraction I looked back in time to see Laina making a smacking noise with her mouth, and in a very uncomfortable way said, “Mmmmmmy tun isss hot.”
Note: Cayenne pepper is not for kids. Check. A sip of milk later and our chef was back on her feet.
Coat the fish with the creamy spread and sprinkle with cracker crumbs (we skipped that part).
Throw it in the oven 12 to 15 minutes and presto. Bon Apetit.
When I asked Maile to take a picture with the final product she agreed, but kept turning her head away from the camera. I wanted a picture of her face, but she was trying to avoid the smell of the fish. She was killin’ me so I flipped the switch to movie mode and got a little clip of her being silly and cracking me up:
