Miss Smarty Pants

I'm a little disapointed in my blog's reading level. As an English major graduate and one time high school teacher, I'm slightly insulted. I took the test with old URL awhile back and I was post graduate level. I was pleased with myself and my advanced writing level, but did not come running to you all to brag about it...unlike some people I know. Not to mention I was skeptical of the powers that be who are able to rate my blog after a 5 second analysis of, I don't know what.

I took the test again today and am extremely insulted. How will I ever get a job teaching again?? My future employers will take one look at my test result and refuse me.

TV Reviews

I'm thinking if I slip in some big words here and there I may be able to get that level raised. Maybe if I prove that my blog involves an eclectic blending of an enormous range of skills and activities I can boost my rating back up. Maybe I should show that the opinions expressed in my blog are both theoretical and empirical. That they are concerned with developing, exploring or testing the theories or ideas about how the world operates and they are also based on observations and measurements of reality -- on what I perceive of the world around me. It is probabilistic that this extremely high tech rating machine will send it's sensors out to this post and see that I am actually extremely intelligent...I think it's time to run the test again...I'll be back with my "Gifted" badge shortly...

*squinting at you*...so you're upset that your blog isn't equivalent to a research article? um, i don't think we'd all be here if it were.

I really hate to use the term "LOL" but that is what I am doing.

Now I want to see what my blog's reading level is.

Also...
I think its probably a good thing that your blog isn't too hard to read. Keeps the average Jane (me) interested!

Don't feel too bad. As a elementary teacher, I felt a little insulted that mine was elementary!!! Oh, well! What does that stupid thing know anyway??

Mine is also a high school reading level. I am also an English major grad (although I skipped the teaching part). hmmm...

Will intelligent comments help? If so, I want to mention that the synchronicity between the musings about daily life and the anecdotes pertaining to your offspring is superb. None of the aforementioned information is superfluous in the least. Onomatopoeia. Alacrity. Antidisestablishmentarianism. (Hope this helps!)

LOL...I love it just the way it is...

mine came up as genius, so it's clearly broken ;)

Do you think it has anything to do with being around kids 24/7? I'm just sayin. Or possibly the whole MRHS staff?? Yeah blame it on them...

;)

You'd easily surpass me in that test any day.

Gina said...

Umm, I'm sorry- what did you just say?!?!?!?!

Kat said...

Apparently I have been edumacated in the past few hours. Earlier today I was Junior High. Now, I am high school. By tomorrow...I will be genius. Fer sure...

J. said...

Hmmm...I'm sure my blog's reading level must be "mature," since I use waaay more bad words than you. Of course, I could be wrong, since I love run-on sentences. And fragments.

I loved High School - I love your blog.. it's the best!!! That test is crazy I think!

Totally had my laughing quite loudly. Love reading your blog...it always brings a smile to my face.
oh no...you aren't grading me on this are you?

I was junior high for a while but have recently been upgraded to high school...should I send out announcements and expect graduation gifts now?

scargosun said...

I was honestly happy with my junior hs level because my spelling is atroci...atrosi...atrosh..bad.

I'm right there with you--I was an English teacher & grad student, and mine was high school too. I TRY not to use too many big words because my friends tease me about it. ;-)

Nice use of vocabulary. If you don't come back with a genius badge then we'll know it's just random. :)

Pam said...

I got junior high - so at least you aren't as dumb as me ;)

Jen said...

I don't know if it means any thing but I still really, really like your blog. I will keep reading no matter the level :)

Mine came up as genius, so it's clearly broken. I spelled angle as angel, so I know it must do random calculations and results. You are a great blogger.

Both theoretical and empirical. Totally.

What the heck...why did you change your blog?
Second, I heard through the grapevine 3 others changed their blog ass well...you trend setter.
p.s
my post on my blog is ALL for you.

Don't feel bad. I think it must be rigged!

Crazy chick probably took the test repeatedly until she got that result. I'm just sayin...

Also, I told someone else this last night after taking the Ambien... so I don't remember who it was... but they had a similar result on this test.

As an editor... newspaper journalists are taught to write on a 5th grade level so that no matter what, the audience can relate. Seems like it would apply to blogs as well since they will be newspapers in the future.

So, keep up the good work and try to dumb it down a little.

hmmmmmmmm, I guess we can still be friends after all you did share the link love!

Honestly, I think that the little test was just impressed with my photoshop skillz[:

Mine was Jr. High!

did your rate go up?? I am going to go see where mine is at. I may not post it though - I tend to ramble!

Amy said...

OOhh College Level! I think I will post it now - he he! =)

Michelle said...

I can tell that you're an English major simply by the ease with which you can sprew big words in an impressive array that is surely enough to get you back to the coveted status of post graduate ;)

I don't know, mine was high school too, and I was thinking it's becasue I talk about "high schoolers" So I have no idea.
But I am a little hmmm lets say disturbed

I tried it and I got a junior high rating. Humph! What do they know anyway? We are rad and they are just jealous!

speaking of reading...I think you should get this book for your little ones! http://www.buyolympia.com/q/Item=babymixmedrink

Love your blog, thanks for making me laugh!

Probabilistic. Definitely.

We've got drama over on AFRo. You. Must. Go. Now. Check it out... It's the craziest shit I've ever encountered in the blogging world.

I don't even dare to check my blog's reading level. Just think, though, you're in good company. Since most news sources in the U.S. are written for a sixth-grade education level, you're obviously writing for the elite, even with a high school rated blog.

Katie said...

don't feel bad. i think the wall street journal is only at a 9th grade level. that always makes me feel better when i have to write. and get paid for it. oy.

Deanna said...

It is insulting isn't it? At least your blog can drive! BTW, gave you credit in your very own post on my blog! :)

Keep writing!

HUH?

LOL!

Shelby said...

Okay hi, despite the fact that I'm a grad student, my blog readability is elementary school.

WTF?

Apparently all my GRE words and spell checking isn't helping me.

I guess I'll just spin it that I want it to be accessible to EVERYONE!!!

TEE HEE!!!!

cyclingred said...

I have seen that site and the rating they give other blogs. I am really skeptical.

Ashley said...

Hmmm, I've never heard of this. I'm guessing that my poop talk will bring my score down. Off to go check now.

Erin The Great said...

Don't feel bad! Mine got a rating of 'Elementary School'. I know i'm not the best editor, but that is ridiculous! Especially Since my other Blog Betty & Veronica received a 'College Undergrad'. WTF?

chris said...

LMAO...I have post graduate degrees and I'm a school administrator but I keep my blog reading level to a high school level as well. There's no need to show your edumacation when you already are edumacated...

I'm so glad you visited my blog so I can visit yours...You're too funny!

jennie said...

wow! I don't think you should feel bad at all. Mine was rated for elementary school, which means that I'm primarily writing for an audience who isn't even allowed to access the computer without parental permission.

MoziEsmé said...

This cracks me up! I got Junior High School level. But considering I'm writing as my 1-year-old daughter, she's pretty danged smart for her age . . .
