Kainoa was in rare form this past week. I’ve never seen anything like it. He was a drooling, crying, stumbling fool.
Then came the temperature and more drooling, crying, and stumbling. It was non-stop. He wouldn’t let me out of his sight. He wanted up and when he was up he wanted down then he was down would roll to the ground screaming.
Nothing pleased him.
Then he skipped both his morning and afternoon naps and instead stayed up crying.
And then I cried too. I’m a total wimp. I cannot not handle listening to my kids cry and carry on like that. Especially if nothing I’m doing is helping. I lose it.
Friday came along and I called his doctor. Thing is I’m notorious for setting up appointments to diagnose a problem only to find there is no problem. But going into the weekend…and considering he’s normally a pretty happy little guy…I just couldn’t risk it. I scheduled the appointment if only to rule out the fact that he might have an ear infection.
Pat had the day off and I think he was a little less than enthused to go sit in a dr.’s office with our fussy boy. But after going on and on and on about how I thought something HAD to be wrong with him because his behavior was so unusual, he relented and took him in.
And I was wrong.
Kainoa does not have an ear infection.
He has strep. :(
