Yesterday was BUSY…but in a fun way. Did I just say that??
Maile started her first day at preschool and I am so proud of her. She is incredibly shy by nature and I’ve been talking preschool up for weeks now to prepare her. She turns five in a month and barely misses the cut off for Kindergarten. I think she’s smart enough for Kindergarten, but will definitely benefit socially by spending a year in preschool.
This will make her one of the oldest in her class when she goes to school next year and I’d rather that anyways. I let her pick out some “school clothes” and I think the pink dress really made her look forward to her first day. She was sure everybody would love her pink dress and want to be friends with her:
“I’m gonna see anudder girl wid a pink dress and were gonna be frenz mom”.
Laina, on the otherhand, made it VERY clear she would not be going to preschool. She agreed to go along for the ride but made sure the ENTIRE way that I knew she would not be staying:
“Ahm not goin prityschoo mom. Ahm not. Ahm not. Mom?? Mom?? Ahm I goin ta prityschoo? Ahm I?? Noooooo. Ahm not.”
All the way to pretty school.
But once we got there….
Laina made herself riiiiight at home. Someday I’ll do a post about Laina and her toys. A small case of OCD…she can play with toys like those in the picture above for HOURS!! No kidding. She comes up with these elaborate story lines and sets the figurines up just. so. Sometimes I stumble upon a toy scene and I KNOW Laina has been there. I’ll have to go back and find all the different pictures I’ve taken of her toys. Really cute.
Another thing I love about ALL kids is watching them progress in the coloring world. At first kids just scribble all over…then they’ll color certain things that stick out to them, usually faces and feet or accessories in the picture…they might start by choosing just one color for the entire picture and then they’ll start experimenting with different colors.
Laina just jumped from the coloring only things that catch her eye to coloring the entire picture. Here’s what she was up to while Maile was at pretty school:
I love them.
I threw them away, but I love them.
And are we surprised all the pictures have dogs in them.
Why no. No we are not.
The girl has been obsessed with dogs for a solid year now. Maile will ask me to print out pictures of princesses, hearts, balloons and birthday cakes. Laina has me print out pictures of dogs. EVERY TIME.
Click here to see when the doggy madness began…sigh…oh how my daughter makes me smile.
