And by “rest” I mean “shut up”.
Your ingredients:
-Frozen bread dough (I use two loaves of Rhodes bread)
-Butter (eyeball it…maybe three tablespoons or so…)
-Brown sugar
-Cinnamon
-Raisins
That’s IT. They are super easy. I remember my Mom making them when I was little and ow the smell would fill the house. By far the best cinnamon rolls ever. I don’t care what you say. NOW! Let’s get to work.
After letting the bread rise it’s time to lay it out on a lightly floured cutting board.
And knead and flatten and spread it as best you can.
Pour the melted butter and spread it all over the dough with the back of a spoon.
Sprinkle brown sugar (the more the merrier).
Sprinkle the cinnamon (again…lots).
Sprinkle the raisins (eh.)
Roll it up from the shortest length down…so from the top, where Maile’s hand is, down to the raisins. It will work if you do it the long ways, but they’re just a lot smaller. After you’ve rolled it you’ll need to start cutting….about 1″ pieces all the way down.
Stick each piece in a greased baking dish and toss’er in the over for about 25 minutes at 350.
Wa la. Cinnamon rolls for Mommy.
And I love this video because Maile is acting like such a big girl. The school agers are lined up at the bar watching her and she’s explaining to them that raisins covered in sugary/cinnamony goodness are actually ok to eat. When I call her on it by telling her to eat one she gives me her predictable “NO! That’s Guh-Rose!!”. Classic.
ps Your writing prompt will be delivered tomorrow and we’ll have our workshop on Thursday so be sure to stop by!
