.) Kainoa turned one. There’s something about that first year of life…though beautiful and miraculous and sweet…it’s also the most difficult (for me) of all the years I’ve experienced with my kids. And we made it. And in one piece. I love my boy…we definitely still have our days, but he’s less breakable now
.) I didn’t get pregnant! I tell people I am officially done having children…but it’s an accident waiting to happen. 18 months and counting. Way to start off the New Year!!
.) Gluten free made me healthy (as I pound a bag of cheetos). I was super bummed when Maile (and Kainoa??) was diagnosed with an allergy to gluten containing foods, but it is SO nice to have an answer and a direction now. I’m excited to transform the way we eat and how we view food in this house.
.) I read 6 books…that may come off sounding like a failure, especially considering I finished 2006 with having read 59 books. I blamed the 12 books I read in 2007 on the birth of my only son…and I blame this years fall on you all. It’s your fault. BUT! I bet I read six MORE books than most twenty somethings year old’s out there!! See. I win. Touche.
.) I turned 30! I know I whined about it, but after turning 30 I realized I am wise beyond my years. My maturity, intelligence and youthful spirit remain unmatched by any 29 year old on this planet. I challenge all 20 something year olds to a dual.
.) My children still love me! Just the other day Maile was going to bed and before I left her room she whispered, “I love you Mom”. PROOF! I managed to go another year without destroying my bond with my children. 365 days. 8 765.81277 hours. 525 948.766 minutes. 31 556 926 seconds spent live with my children…and they still love me!!
.) I survived! The crib to bed transition, the demands for food, the sleepless nights, the poopy diapers, vomit, high fevers, arctic storm ’08, occasional spats with the hubby, temper tanturms, food fights…I survived it all! And I’m healthy and happy and still love my family! Go figure.
.) I made friends. Ok that’s a lie. I don’t make friends. But if I did, I would definitely list that here.
.) Wait. Blogland is my friend! I am that friend in the group who was is always trying to plan a get together. After having kids I found myself cooped up at home and I suddenly realized how important it was for me to be with them. My friends are very busy though and I’ve been disappointed on a number of occasions when I’ve felt they’ve been too busy for dinner with me. I felt like I was being needy for people who weren’t really needy for me. Which basically makes me pathetic. Blogland, in a strange way, has supplied me with that fulfillment. I get to chat with people any time about anything at all…and not only are they (you) there, but they’re (you’re) happy I’m here!! Validation and friendship is a beautiful thing and I am glad to have found it in blogland. Thank you!!!
Now it’s your turn.
