It's Really Gonna Work This Time

Ohhhhhh this is going to be good. It's that time. Sorry all you non-reality-bachelor watchers, but I've been waiting long and hard for this show to come back and Monday night was the grand opening.

I was not disappointed.

The Bachelor this season is Jason.

Jason was the one left standing last season when DeAnna picked surfer boy Jesse over him. He was heart broken, but gets the last laugh now as the Bachelor. I think it's kind of funny how these women are just falling all over him and calling him gorgeous and hot. Jason is not gorgeous. He's cute. He's sweet. He's that nice guy that should finish last, but got a lucky break and now gets to pick a "wife". But he's not hot.

The first episode of the season is one of my favorite episodes for the following reasons:

1.) We get to meet all the women and hear about how obsessed they are over a man they've never met. And then we get to watch them do something special in an attempt to make him remember them...like recite a poem or make him waltz or force him to eat a hot dog.

2.) There's always a psycho girl that cries at the end because she just KNEW she was meant for him and that that their wedding was going to be on a beach in front of 40 to 50 people and that he's made a terrible mistake.

3.) There's always a psycho girl that somehow manages to fly under the radar and sticks around and over drinks and gets sloppy and makes the show worth watching.

4.) I'm reminded of how geographically challenged I am, like when "Nikki from Blue Island, IL" introduced herself and Jason was all "where are you from" and she was all "Chicago" and I was all "huh-uh! She's from Illinois!!"

Ahem.

Don't hate me 'cause you ain't me.

5.) All the girls, and the host, and Jason, (and me) are all worked up and believe that Jason's next "wife" is "in that room" somewhere, even though nobody EVER gets married off that show and lives happily ever after. (Trista and Ryan are weird and don't count).

Here are my faves!

Melissa:

She's from Dallas...a former Dallas cheerleader. Cute and happy...slightly trying too hard to be funny, but I still like her.

Raquel:

She's from Brazil is totally cute and has that foreign accent I love so much in a woman. The only thing I don't like about her is that after she had her time with Jason she "stole" him back two more times and it made her look a little insecure...and desperate.

Lauren was my all time favorite.

She was the most normal of all the girls and by "normal" I mean she was like us. She had a sense of humor, she seemed natural, she was beautiful (that's the "us" part) and I really really like her. I like her so much that if she doesn't get picked I'm going to beg ABC to make her the next Bachelorette and then I'm going to go on the show to win her love.

Or maybe I'll ask MTV to put her on "A Shot At Love"...I think I'd have more of a chance over there.

You all really think I'm a lesbian right now, don't you.

(note to self: publish "reasons I love my husband" post asap).

But all of that is not what's got me so wound up right now. This is really great. The previews they played afterwards of what to expect this season showed DeAnna coming BACK!

DeAnna Pappas Pictures, Images and Photos

Remember when I posted this video of Jesse all heartbroken beause DeAnna broke off the engagement. Well now she's coming back to the Bachelor to try and get Jason back claiming she made the wrong CHOICE!

All the girls freak out and start crying and Jason is confused and crying and their is so much ridiculous drama my little heart can hardly STAND it!

Well played ABC. Well played.

oh man, and we just cancelled our cable. Dave Ramsey made us do it. Apparantly he is not aware of the necessity of the bachelor in my life..........

I wonder if I can watch he episodes online. I'm off to find out........

oh, and I think Jason is from my neck of the woods (which I think is your neck of the woods too.)

I was wrong, he's from Seattle.

Remember how psycho that one guy was when he came back after he got kicked off because they were perfect for each other? And now they are allowing her to come back and cause him more heartache? I hope she gets ditched and she ends up with the psycho guy from Texas, or she goes to find the hot basketball player who will break her heart. We ALL knew Jesse wasn't right--why didn't she? Because he was fun and Jason was stable. Oh, stupid girl!

Gosh darn it! I forgot it started last night!
And I can't wait for the Deanna re-appear.

WHAT??????? I haven't seen the last night show which I DVR'd it. BUT I didn't know that DeAnna is coming back? That is not cool at all - I mean is this for the ratings or did she really make the wrong choice?

OMG, I need to watch it right now - oh I hope Jason makes a right decision. And you're so right - he is not HOT, he is cute:)

The previews left me on the edge of my seat. It's gonna be oh so good!

Hmmm.....I usually watch, but didn't last night. I think after DeAnna's antics with Jesse it sort of turned me off.

The DeAnna returning should be interesting.

I'm so excited that Jason is the bachelor this year! He is cute and seems so sweet. The girls are so funny and we will get a couple more episodes of the crazies before they all get weeded out! Melissa is my favorite.

Deni said...

I feel so bad for him, with Deanna coming back and such. Personally, not so much a Melissa fan, I actually like that Stephanie girl.

I DVR'd it last night, had to catch up from Sunday night first...you know Rock of Love bus...with Bret Michaels...you wanna talk about psychos...but I did flip back to Momma's Boys...was hoping for another I didn't get a date, but Amanda, that sneaky snot outplayed Jojo so she could go with Michael to the island...BIZNATCH!

Crap! I fell asleep about an hour into it! I didn't see the DeAnna part!

I used to watch all the Bachelor shows then got away from it, but I think I'll stick around this season.

What was with the ditzy chick that lives in Amish land? Could she be any more of a flouncy dunce?

Sera said...

Fist I just gotta say that in spite of everything funny in this post, I think I loved "Don't hate me cuz you ain't me" the best. I've never heard that before and I think it's so funny!

So, I've never been a watcher of The Bachelor, but last night, somehow, we had the TV on, and on the right channel, to see the very end. And whoah Nelly, there are some psycho chicks out there. That one who said she'd planned their wedding in her head 50 times? Yowza...

Amber, That's Me! said...

I've been there before with the bachelor addiction. I haven't done it for a while, but your post is making me think maybe I should have!

Amariah said...

I've never watched the Bachelor, probably never will, but your post made me laugh :-)

Amy said...

I am usually a lurker here and rarely comment, but oh where do I begin?
I love Jason and I cried like a baby when Deanna broke his heart (that biotch)
I think he made some good decisions last night and I liked Shannon, she was cute and seemed to make a cute couple with Jason.
When the previews came on and I saw Deanna back, I was busting up on my furnitured, yelling "No! No!" I can't believe she is coming back and they are allowing it. What they won't do for ratings, huh?

I can NOT wait to see what happens next :)

Never seen the Bachelor or the Bachelorette. I might need to hop on this bandwagon, though. Is it really as addicting as it sounds??

CaJoh said...

My wife and I watched the episode last night and I hate it when they show the upcoming episodes— makes you already know what's coming… why watch now.

Jen said...

Drama Drama Drama. I saw that this show was coming on last night and I almost watched it but I never you would have the best review. But my curiousity is peeked, I may have to watch.

OMG, I'm so sad to have missed last night. As soon as ABC posts it on their website, I'm tuning in. I've been waiting forever to see Jason's season.

I COULDNT believe Deanna was back...I'm not sure thats very fair!

Danielle said...

Sooooo.... I haven't watched one of these in a while but I watched last night and am hooked dammit.

I.HAVE.GOT.TO.KNOW

What happened to Jason's baby momma? Where is she? What's the back story there?

Help?!

And I agree. Not hot. Cute and lovable and a little bit... naive? But his arms? yummy!

I gave up The Bachelor for Lent. Early.

I've watched every single season of that show, and when DeAnna picked Lame Sufer Guy last year, I said, "THAT'S IT!"

I love me some Jason, don't get me wrong. I adore his precious son. I hope he finds the girl of his dreams. But I won't be watching. I can't. Lost and Battlestar return in less than 2 weeks and those are the priorities in my life.

(Speaking of priorities, will I be seeing you anytime soon? Let's discuss.)

Oh, and let me know whom he chooses...and how much DeAnna cries when he's all, "Bitch, please..."

Rhonda said...

The women on these things just irritate me. And embarrass me. My Lord, what our gender will do....

But, hey! Enjoy the show anyway! lol

Sam_I_am said...

Wow, Melissa looks like DeAnna. They did that on purpose. Sneaky, bastards.

OMG, that was such a wonderful recap! I loved it!!! You did great! I was so shocked last year that Deanna didn't pick Jason, I knew that she had made such a huge mistake! I am not surprised that she wants to be back and wow, I can't wait to watch this season! Thank you again for the recap!

Cassie said...

Thank. Goodness. Someone else is going to obsess over this along with me. First of all...God help him, pick the right one. I mean he has a KID on the line here as well!! I hope that they are not all psycho. Second...I CaNnOt BeLiEvE that they are letting DeAnna RuIn this!!!! She doesn't deserve to come in and create this turmoil. I fear that they are simply doing this for the ratings, and now Jason is caught up in this wanna-be-Mamma Drama! It makes me sick. I can't wait until next week.

Jeff and Mandee said...

I couldn't believe it when they showed Deanna was going to be on....that is a crappy thing to do to someone! Now I get to watch this and Momma's Boys on Monday nights....draaaaama!

Mama Wheaton said...

That is one reality show my husband won't watch, so I'm counting on you to keep me posted.

Jason has lovely teeth. I can just hear his beloved, in the bedroom on a pitch-black night, saying, "Hey, baby, where are you?"

All he'd have to do is smile.

Wow. That is a lot to handle all in one post. I don't have t.v. and apparently don't need it. I will continue to check your blog. Have been out of the blog world for awhile. Happy New Year!

OMG!!! Another bachelor lover!!! I am so excited that you watch this too, Kat!!!

Ok...I was having a little bit of an anxiety attack when they Deanna was coming back..I dont yet know how to process this info!!!!

And yes, totally Lauren!!! You and I are so on the same page!

Classy in Philadelphia said...

Hahaha, ahhhh! Seriously, see my post from today: same exact thing! I'm so excited that there is another blogger out there who is as obsessed with this show as I am.

Okay, so I'm mostly on the same page as you. Melissa is my absolutely favorite- I think she is adorable. Lauren is also cute. However, I don't like Raquel. I think they put her there randomly, because they always have that one foreign girl who ISN'T going to win, but is put there to make the other girls feel insecure. I don't think Jason really likes her.

I agree that Jason is the nice guy, but I have to say that while he is cute, I also think he is gorgeous. I mean, have you seen those biceps?

April said...

I posted about the show too not realizing just how many people were going to. It should be interesting this season to say the least.

Junita said...

OMG - it certainly did live up to my expectations. Some of those girls are nuts! (Girl that quit her job and got the guilt rose) - But some of them seem really nice - althought the woman who was a widow kind of freaked me out! I'm just glad I don't have a conflict with the Rock of Love Bus. It would be a struggle to choose.

Cat said...

I'm afraid I have no frame of reference for this post. But I'd totally lick bachelorette #3, so I guess I'm with you there.

Christy said...

i love the bachlor! and I like most of the girls you like too - except Raquel (sp?) I like Molly too :)

Michele said...

I have to admit, I am a little wound up about this season, too.
Can't wait to see the fur fly. And that bit about DeAnna returning? Priceless.

iris7531 said...

LOL! But I was totally going WTF when Deanna showed back up.

However, maybe if that girl planned the wedding 15x's instead of 10, Jason would have seen her dedication. I liked Grant, so what do I know.

And since I've (shhhh) never seen the Bachelor, I have nothing else to add today!

I'm too tired to read through all your comments (I'll be back tomorrow for that) but I just finished watching and I was left speechless. DeAnna is BACK??!! She made the wrong choice??!!

Holy God.

There's a party at my place next Monday. And every Monday there after, and you my friend most definately have a standing invitation.

I'm gonna have to blog about this season.

Hello. Hi. I love you. I live for these posts during Bachelor season. I think it is the only reason I watch the show...just so I can read Mama Kat and know what you're talking about. Keep em coming!!!

I tivo'd it and wound up watching it while it was recording, then made my anti-trash tv hubby watch it too.
