This Easter was a lot of fun for me because it was the first Easter where #1 Maile knew EXACTLY what was about to go down and #2 Laina was old enough to get in on the fun too. They got so excited together and that was fun to watch.
The Easter bunny got busy while the kids slept and decorated the dining room…he even left his bunny footprints in the hallway.
Silly wabbit.
Come morning the kids dug into the goodies left in their baskets. Baby Kainoa was excited, but after a middle of the night puke session he wasn’t feeling 100%. What’s up with him being sick so much lately?? Poor little fella. His basket of treasures and our easter egg hunt made him happy for a couple hours.
Maile and Laina wasted no time finding all the eggs strategically placed throughout the living room by the Easter bunny.
And then it was time for the annual Easter Egg hunt and Grandpa’s house. Pat stayed home with Kainoa and I took my chatty girls to Grandpa’s where they promptly and predictably turned into shy little bumpkins.
Grandpa said he used to feel bad that they were so scared around him until he realized they were like that even with my sisters and brothers who they see all the time. Baby drove that point home by turning to Maile and with wide arms excitedly beckoned for a hug…Maile responded with excitement. The thing about that quiet/sensitive disposition is that any wrong move might send a child into hysterics. They’re nervous, they’ve got a lot of eyes on them, a lot of people talking to them…it’s a lot of pressure. In this case my niece Blondie wanted to hold Maile’s bunny. After Maile rudely refused her I offered to put the bunny back in the van. Maile didn’t want the bunny back in the van so I insisted she let Blondie hold it or that’s exactly where it would go. And this is the response I received:
Blondie decided to stick a little closer to Laina after that.
