I thought today would be as good a day as any to answer some of your burning questions. At the rate I’m going I’ll NEVER vlog them all, so we’re doing this old school style:
1.) Knowing that your children are sensitive to gluten, do you and your hubby have any issues with food or allergies?
No. Neither of us have food allergies strangely enough. I have no idea why two of my three kids are allergic. It’s funny though, I find myself eating gluten free a lot more now out of respect for Maile and I swear I can feel a difference when I eat gluten now. More bloated and fat and overly full…maybe I AM allergic!!!
2.) Your kids have very unique names, how did you come up with them?
I answered this in a vlog right?? But didn’t I leave you guys hanging?? In short (but not really):
Maile: She was going to be Logan, but we changed our minds. Pat didn’t like “white” names so much. I mentioned Malia and Kylie, he said no to both. What about Maile? And the rest is history.
Laina: I named her Kalia for the first 8 months of my pregnancy. That was her name. Period. I loved it. Then we went to Hawaii where Pat’s Hawaiian history guru sister informed us that Kalia was nothing more than some kind of tree. Pat refused the name and I was irritated. I told him if he could think of something better than more power to him, but that I had thought of every name known to man and Kalia was the best. I vented to my Mom and my sister and my sister responded with, “hmph. (pause). What about Laina??” and I was all “ooooh!! I LIKE that.”
And the rest is history. Wanna know what else I love about Laina’s name? I might have mentioned this before…it’s that when you mix the letters up it spells out the island Pat grew up on, “Lanai”. See how perfect?
Kainoa: Far less interesting. I had a really hard time with Hawaiian boy name. Kakeklaishjdhajds. All the boy names I liked belonged to members of Pat’s family and I didn’t want to steal them. Pat mentioned Kainoa and I instantly fell in love with it. There was no turning back…but when I was pregnant we didn’t know if I was having a boy or a girl and if by chance he had come out with a vagina his name would have been Kai Elle. And I still love that name. :)
3.) If you could travel anywhere in the world without the kiddos, where would you go?
I don’t know…I’ve always wanted to go to one of those expensive Sandals Resorts…or one of those islands with huts on top of water. That looks like fun.
4.) Now, what about with the kiddos?
This is not exciting. Like everyone else I can’t wait to take the kids to Disneyland…we’re thinking in about two years they will all be at an age where they will love it.
5.) What is your favorite thing about getting to work from home?
My favorite thing…there are a few. But definitely being able to let my kids sleep as long as they want tops the list. I hate waking them…I feel like we should let sleeping kids lie. And UGH to the thought of getting myself ready at the crack and then waking them and getting THEM all ready at the crack and then packing them up to go to daycare. That does NOT sound like fun.
6.) Aside from absolutely adoring YOU and the kiddos…what are some of pats hobbies???
Pat is such a dork. He dinks around in the stock market…
he collects sports cards and comic books and sells all that stuff on ebay. He loves volleyball and hawaiian cuisine and violent movies. And I love him.
7.) do you watch any other reality tv shows besides the bachelor???
I watch ONLY reality tv. I love it…and I don’t care what any of you say, I will continue to rot my brain by watching it.
8.) I want to know what is your guilty pleasure.
My guilty pleasure is shopping. Minus the guilty part. I love new clothes. They make me excited to get out of bed in the morning. I get excited when I’m shopping and NOTHING can ruin my mood when I come home with a new top. Nothing. And it’s weird because I never used to be like that…in fact, I hated shopping. I think this all happened after I had babies. Getting to think about myself is extra fun now because it’s a less common occurence. Bless them.
9.) I am training to run a Marathon (26.2 miles) in San Diego on May 31. I’m running as a member of Team in Training to benefit the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Will you mention me and my blog, yoursnmineisours.blogspot.com, on your (hugely popular) blog and tell your very loyal readers to come support me? (this isn’t blatant self promotion as I know you frown upon that!):
I am all about helping any crusade against cancer if I can. Click here to visit Jen and show some support with a comment or a contribution to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. 26.2 miles is a LOT of running…better you than me Jen! ;)
ps feel free to leave more questions…these make for really easy posts. And don’t worry Baby, your questions are NEXT!
