Writer's Workshop: What's In A Name, Mr. Kainoa?

3.) Write a poem for the little boy in your life.

What's In A Name, Mr. Kainoa?

it means loud silly laugh and fun in the bath
it means taking a bite and spitting out half.
it means beaming and gleaming, sweet baby dreaming
it means turning your mother into a blubbering sap.

it means gluten intolerance and candy cravings
it means saying I'm Sorry and unintelligible ravings
it means chasing and racing, naughty corner facing.
it means draining money from your parents savings.

it means rain boots in summer and counter top crawling.
it means devoted blankie love and marker wall drawing
it means basketball balling, clumsy free falling
it means happy boy dancing and long car ride yawning

it means mama's baby and daddy's star,
it means lover of airplanes near and far
it means hiding and climbing, bicycle riding
it means all the wonderful things that you are.

Great poem! I wish I could write poetry. I think it just requires knowledge of too many words.....

Your poem is so awesome. really, how long did that take you to churn out, because it really read well. I know from my son that little boys are lots of things and I can so easily see K or Miles doing all of those things.

Good job, Kat!!

Cute poem and picture!

Maybe one day I will have a boy but for now it is all about the princesses.

I actually have one that would fit that poem perfectly.

LOL! Michelle, Chelsea, and Marcie created great want ads! I especially liked the ad about having a cat and a dog because the kids insisted they wanted one, now needing someone to take care of them. (The pets, not the kids). LOL

Love it. I'm impressed too. I used to write poetry but could never do the rhyming bit. I was always writing free form prose.

Thanks for hosting!

I came over earlier and saw your prompts and thought the poem would be a good one to do... but my brain wouldn't work around it. I loved yours!

Were you writing about my boy or yours?!! So funny how boys can be so generic, that a poem about your son feels like you're talking about mine... LOVE :).

I love your poem! It's really quite wonderful!

Hey I was at the store last night and saw that Chex has a glutenfree rice cereal. You probably already know but I thought I would pass it on just in case. You can make all sorts of snacks with Chex. :-D

You would do it right?

For free?
