Writer’s Workshop: What’s In A Name, Mr. Kainoa?

3.) Write a poem for the little boy in your life.

What’s In A Name, Mr. Kainoa?

it means loud silly laugh and fun in the bath
it means taking a bite and spitting out half.
it means beaming and gleaming, sweet baby dreaming
it means turning your mother into a blubbering sap.

it means gluten intolerance and candy cravings
it means saying I’m Sorry and unintelligible ravings
it means chasing and racing, naughty corner facing.
it means draining money from your parents savings.

it means rain boots in summer and counter top crawling.
it means devoted blankie love and marker wall drawing
it means basketball balling, clumsy free falling
it means happy boy dancing and long car ride yawning

it means mama’s baby and daddy’s star,
it means lover of airplanes near and far
it means hiding and climbing, bicycle riding
it means all the wonderful things that you are.
