Mona Does Seattle

September 24, 2009 · 1 comment

You all have seen snippits of the superhero who came to visit me on Monday and I have a confesion…that superhero was not really Wonder Woman…it’s actually me…and you’re not going to believe what I did.

Sometimes I get ideas in my head that I think are going to be funny…most of the time they’re stupid. Now one of two things can happen when I get a stupid idea…I can call my sister and tell her about that I think it would be funny to run around town with Mona and she’ll be all “oh my goodness, what are you thinking? Absolutely not…don’t do that stupid thing, you’re going to humiliate your stupid self”.

OR I can call a friend, who happens to be an amazing photographer and who happens to enjoy watching me make a fool of myself, in which case the response I’ll get will be “Oh my goodness you are brilliant! You SO have to do that! Not only do I insist you do that, but I will be at your door at 11am on Sunday and I will see that you follow through with this brilliant plan that your brilliant self came up with!”

So she showed up at 11am.

And we took Mona to Seattle.

And Mona and I walked around together.

We expected weird looks. We expected staring. We weren’t shocked a bit when a gay man walked by, looked me up and down, and in a very flamboyant voice leaned to his friend and said “sssserioussssly???” We expected all of that. I mean after all I’m walking around with a DOLL…

What we didn’t expect were the two hundred and twenty some odd pictures people were going to ask to take with Mona.

We didn’t expect parents to shove their small children at Mona for a meet and greet.

We didn’t expect grown men to push their puppies at Mona for photos.

We didn’t expect to be stopped at Pike Place Market to help a couple find a restaurant within walking distance because surely Mona knows where to eat!

And we didn’t expect merry fishmen to yell “WONDER WOMAN” while a large crowd of onlookers cheered as Mona helped me catch a fish. In front of EVERYONE. (Okay so we kind of expected that since one of my very favorite people just happens to be dating a fishman and just happened to warn him that Mona was coming to pester him).

But it all happened.

And Mona was exhausted when all was said and done…and slightly embarrassing.

I insisted on treating her to Starbucks to zap up her energy a bit.

Who knew Mona was so popular in these parts…people LOVE her!

PS there’s totally a video of the fish catching!! It will be posted this weekend…and don’t forget today is the last day to enter the contest that’s posted at the top of this page. Get your last minute entries in!!

Now join me on the final leg of the Mona journey and find out what else she did today! Thanks so much for playing along…this was fun. :)

Hilarious. Please let me know when something like this happens again. I live in Queen Anne now and can be your bodyguard…just in case.
