(Clearly this was written before I moved to WordPress).
Okay a LOT of you want to know how to change your domain so that it loses the blogspot part.
It’s really easy…but I know nothing about Wordpress so if that’s your host you may want to double check.
If you are with Blogger and you want to change your domain name so that it loses the blogspot, it’s really easy, and once the change is made all the traffic that was going to your blogspot dot com address will just automatically be redirected to your new address. People won’t even know you made the change.
I thought my blog would blow up, but nothing horrible has happened….yet. I’m still keeping my fingers crossed. Oh! It did do something weird with my followers so I removed that widget until I can figure out what happened. They said it can take up to three days for your readers to be redirected to the new address so I’m just going to wait it out a little. Oh! And my blog roll has disapeared…no idea if that’s just a coincidence and Blogger’s doing some kind of maintenance or if it’s really lost. In which case. Crap. I’ll work it out.
So here’s what I did. Go in to the settings feature of your blog and click on the “publishing” tab. You will be prompted to purchase a domain name and will need to check for availability when you type the name you want into the box.
Do that.
The rest is history…you just register your name and pay your ten bucks and you’re good to go. You’ll need to renew it every year or check that you want it to renew automatically each year. Either way you’ll need to pay another ten bucks each year that it’s renewed.

i’ve appreciated your tips:) and i’d like your opinion…
i’ve considered buying my own domain, but my blog is called “so much shouting, so much laughter,” and that is quite a mouthful. but i like it. (i named it before i ever really knew anything about blogging.)
is somuchshoutingsomuchlaughter.com completely ridiculous? is changing the name of my blog ridiculous? (i’ve been blogging for about 2 years.) thoughts?

the idea of owning my domain came up years ago, but a lot of things came up and the idea jumped out of the window. it does make sense to get your own domain…i suppose you have more control?
now, why did this idea came along just when i gave up all my credit cards? *sigh*
