Today I’m participating in Texan Mama’s “Flashback Friday”, where she’s asking participants to dig back into our archives and re post an old post. So I went skipping back in time…way back when the only people who commented on my blog were friends and family members who felt sorry for me, and I found a very fitting post for today.
You see…changes are a comin’ here in Mama Kat Land. Heather from Tippy Toe Photography & Design has been hard at work on my new design, which I’ve only gotten peaks at and absolutely love so far. And someday I’ll be making the move to WordPress, (sidenote to non bloggers: When you blog you choose a host. Mine is blogger…it was the easiest choice when I started. WordPress is a more confusing option, but it offers more) partly because it will give me more control over my content and increase my search engine optimization, and partly because my friends are doing it. We started on Blogger together and I feel like we should switch to WordPress together…holding hands.
I’m also working on a post that will better describe the differences between Blogger and WordPress for those of you who are interested. A lot of us hear about people switching from one to the other, or liking one and hating the other…but the reasons are always vague. I’m going to lay it out there…after I get a handle on it…including what exactly search engine optimization is and why we care about it.
Meanwhile, let’s “Flashback” in time when all I wanted was a NAME for this plot of space in cyber land. I came up with a list of possible titles and had all four of my readers voted for the one they liked. Among them was “Mama’s Losin’ It Sweetheart”…it received the highest number of votes, but I didn’t like it and demanded a re vote:
When I am a famous blogstar and people want to tell everyone they know about my blog, “Mama’s Losin’ It Sweetheart” might be kind of a mouthful. It doesn’t roll off the tongue and it may be hard to remember. Maybe I need a one word title…or a rhyming title…I don’t know. What I DO know is that I officially declare a do-over, only to insure the best possible choice is made.
I will keep the two top titles from the old list in my new list just in case you all think you know better and really like the names you voted for, but you MUST vote again. Remember our talk about dieing the last time?? And how that will probably happen if you don’t vote?? Hence the temporary name of the blog?? Well….then….what are you waiting for? Get on over there and cast your vote…and don’t worry it’s still anonymous and I still won’t know who’s voting for what.
