Literature. Love, Lula

February 7, 2010 · 78 comments

I mentioned awhile ago that I was reading The Hunger Games in a post where I talked about my love for the blogosphere and more specifically for Lula, who mailed me the book and it’s sequel.  I finished them months ago and meant to tell you…holy smokes. SO good. I don’t care if you’re a “reader” or not, you will read this and you will love it. I promise. And believe me, I am not one to put my name on something that I don’t genuinely like.

MY REPUTATION IS AT STAKE HERE!

Anyways, in honor of Lula’s generosity for sending me the best books I’ve read so far this year…I’d like to pay it forward in a giveaway I’m calling Literature. Love, Lula. She mailed me the books. I’m in love. And I will mail one of YOU the books for you to love…but only under one condition:

After you read the books YOU must pay it forward too and host another Literature. Love, Lula post and send them to a lucky winner on YOUR blog for them to love (and they must do the same and so on and so forth).

That’s it.

Leave a comment if you want in on the pay it forward giveaway and experience the goodness that is The Hunger Games.

My daughter loved these books too and has been begging me to read them. I keep putting it off to read other books that were on my ‘to read’ list first. I love the idea of paying it forward. It is always nice to receive but even better to give.

hmmmm *looks around at my overcrowded shelves with books I have yet to read* I will have to pass right now but that is a great idea

I am in dire need of a good book. I’ve always been an avid reader but lately, for some reason, I have like a dozen books that I’ve started and just “can’t get into.” I need a good read for pete’s sakes!

I LOVE this idea! I would be thrilled to pass it on, as well as other books too! Also, I have been dying to read The Hunger Games…but I do live in Brazil..would you ship to Brazil? Did I mention the lack of English books here? And I am running out of books to read! Did I mention how much I love you and your blog? Did I mention Brazil–like small city Brazil..not like big city with lots of options…did that invoke sympathy? :)

Reply

Mama Kat February 8, 2010 at 2:39 pm

Totally sympathetic…I’d ship to Brazil for sure. :)

I LOVE your idea of Literature Love paying it forward! Can this be something you do more often? I don’t want to steal your idea, but I definitely think there should be an entire community of blogs that are devoted to this!
I would really appreciate receiving these books. I am a former middle school literature teacher transformed into a SAHM by my BEAUTIFUL baby girl (check out her pictures on my blog *smile*)
I am in desperate need of some GROWN UP literature. I have been stuck reading (and to be honest, enjoying) pre-teen lit for so long that I have no idea where to start with adult lit. Please HELP! lol

I wonder if we could even make it bigger somehow…maybe have EVERYONE who has a Hunger Games book choose a reader to send it to and have them keep the chain going. It could be fun.

I’ve been hearing a lot about these books and I would love to read them, and pay them forward.

Reply

That would be awesome! We’ll see, I’ll draw a name this weekend. But you might be on to something…maybe the receiver of a book could send the sender a favorite? I don’t know…but you MUST read these!

Don’t include me in the giveaway, just commenting :) I’d hold them wayy too long.

I do that SO often with books! I find that I read them much faster when I get them from the library and know that I need to return them soon. If I BUY the book? Forget about it.
