We’re still sad about the original Mouse Family and if you missed it then allow me to recap.
Maile received a mouse for her birthday and named her White Eye. Shortly after Black Eye and Brown Eye were introduced…all females. And then White Eye surprised us with babies. And then we took back the mouse we thought was the father. Only it wasn’t. White Eye and Black Eye (the real father) were immediately separated, but I didn’t have the heart to bring Black Eye back to the pet store. Instead I had him neutered. And the Mouse Family lived happily ever after. Until they were killed.
In an attempt to distract my kids from the grief they felt after finding their dead mice, we quickly fled to the pet store to pick out new babies. Four to be exact. They have not replaced the original Mouse Family and Maile still talks about how “poor baby White Eye wasn’t even growed up yet”, but they are enjoying the new additions.
Meet the Mouse Family…Part II.
Baby Brown, Baby White, Black Eye, and Brownie.
Friendly little bunch.
Here’s hoping they live as happily as the original Mouse Family did.
Before they were killed.
And if even one of them turns out to be a boy…I am so screwed.
Erin says
Awww they are adorable!!!!! I hope they live a long and happy life!

You old softie, you! I assume you have a state-of-the-art security system to keep the little darlin’s safe from the other four-footed creatures in the house?
Oh, I’m sure you do – and what will you name the babies, when they start arriving, en masse?
I guess you’ll know for sure, in 19 to 24 days after they were all introduced to each other.
Good luck!
Thanks so much for this post – it’s like one of the few times in my life that I can say “better you than me” – instead of it being said TO me.

“he wasn’t even growed up yet”. His poor little life, cut so short.

My wife would probably have a heart-attack if she read this post today.

It seems that small rodent pets are the hardest to keep alive, for some reason after they have babies strange things seem to happen. At least with hamsters, but idk about mice.
Best wishes for the new family :)

I really, really hope that none of those mice are girls.

I have to laugh because we’re trying desperately to get mice OUT of our house and you are making pets out of them.

Eeekkss… I’m not a fan of mouse… those tails brings me the chills! I do however used to rear guinea pigs long long time ago when I was in my teens… at one time I had about 24 guinea pigs in my house!! Yup,… TWENTY FOUR guinea pigs… :P

I think you need to move their affection into the fish realm…
You are a good Mom, though!
