Laina’s had an imaginary purple house for about six months now. It’s filled with dogs and she often talks about all of the things she can do there that I won’t let her do here. Her purple house statements are sporadic and fleeting, but I’ve been writing them down for my own entertainment purposes:
“At my purple house I went for a walk with Sparkle and Lily and I saw a monster and he be nice to me. I have Sparkle and Lily, I do…on The Diamond Castle they’re the same, they are. They’re at my purple house.”
“I can’t use your car cause I’m still a kid. I wanna drive to my purple house cause I wanna pick up Sparkles and Lily and I will come back. I want my own house and my own car.”
“Jake’s mom has a map to my purple house and he’s gonna sneak and get one of my dogs. I better hurry and get Sparkle and Lily.”
“Efferyfing in my purple house is broking. Because all da dogs are broking efferyfing.”
“It hab a lotta dogs and all my friends can hab one…I mean…I don’t hab a lot of friends, I only hab dogs.”
“I put milk, juice, an water in a cup at my purple house an give it to my dogs. Sparkles and Lily really like it”

How sweet is that!!?!?!?!? When I was a kid, I would tell my Papa I was gonna buy him a purple truck. & this truck did all kinds of fantastical things. =) We still talk about it from time to time. Maybe purple is magic in kid world….

I love that you even wrote it in her baby talk. So damn cute!!!
Poor thing though. Doesn’t have a lot of friends, but she does have a lot of dogs that are broking all her stuff!

I so love this stage where little ones are talking and using their imaginations and you get a glimpse of what is going on inside their heads. It is magical. My daughter has turned her feet into independent people and named them after her favorite Dragon Tales characters, so our lives are filled with the adventures of Ord and Cassie right now!
Wonderful times – your daughter is precious and so adorable

I love a child’s imagination. Each of my girls had some friends but neither a house. I love the house. I hope she never forgetsit

Somebody reads Barbie and the Diamond Castle! It bugs me that there re the two ‘handsome’ musicians, Ian and Jeremy, in a book meant for 5 year olds.
However…her imagination is great! Her story is much better than the original :-)

I have cousins that are twins and when they were younger they used to tell stories about how their future husbands were going to have to deal with that fact that the four of them (the twins and their husbands) were going to live in the same house, together, forever. They also used to talk about having children and how all of the girls would be upstairs in the house playing, laughing, and having fun, and that all of the boys would be locked in the basement. Kids say really funny things! :)
