The Bachelorette: Ali Chooses Roberto

August 3, 2010 · 30 comments

And to think she might have stuck with Jake and missed all that Roberto.

It wasn’t an easy road. We had to break Chris’s heart…and Chris’s heart has already been broken. I’m not sure if you’re aware of this, but his mom died a year and a half ago…he moved home to be with her. She was amazing. And ABC made sure we heard about it during. every. single. episode.

It got to the point where it’s all you could think about when Chris’s alone time came up. And that’s not good. We don’t want to be thinking about anyone’s parents when they’re making out with the bachelorette.

For the first time in Bachelorette history…the decision maker chose not to sleep with both men the night before she decided which she wanted for her husband. Ali realized on her last date with Roberto, that he was the one, and rather than carry on the fiasco and let Chris down at the alter as was scripted…she chose to break the news to him in his private Tahitian hut. Alone. With the crew. We have to give it to Ali for not humiliating Chris in true ABC fashion.

Roberto was the only man left to claim Ali’s heart…and claim it he did. Roberto gave the sweetest “will you marry me” speech ever. I have to admit, this 26 year old kid made me ponder my husband’s proposal and the lack of flowery language. Although Ali’s response was a bit classier than the “shut the eff up!!” response I gave my lover.

I have also learned that Reality Steve lost his winning streak. He has successfully spoiled the finale of the past few Bachelor series and apparently he’s insisted this season that his inside source told him Ali leaves Tahiti single. All the Reality Steve readers thought she wasn’t going to choose anyone. Turns out Steve was wrong. The producers kept the conclusion a secret until the last minute. Steve updated his page before the finale ended with the true conclusion and apologized for jumping the gun on the single thing.

ABC is trying really hard to smoke out Steve’s “source”, but Steve is adamant that this is the first thing he’s been wrong about all season and that they’re looking in all the wrong places for his source. He’s also said that our beloved Chris has been offered the role as the next Bachelor and that we’re just waiting for confirmation from Chris that he’s in. So there’s that.

And here’s a rainbow from Chris’s mom.

I don’t know if you’re aware of this but his mom died a year and a half ago…he moved home to be with her. She was amazing. And ABC made sure we heard about it during. every. single. episode. She told Chris when she died to look for her in rainbows.

After Ali broke his heart…a rainbow appeared and everyone cried. So sweet.

I was honestly pulling for Chris, but I’m glad she ended up with Roberto. It was very obvious from the beginning that they had a very strong connection. And it was kind of sad the way ABC constantly ask Chris questions about his mom, I mean there is no doubt he loved and cherished her…but way to bring down the mood!

you totally called it, from the beginning. you should stage a coup on reality steve and take over his evil reality empire.

But wait that is a DOUBLE RAINBOW OMG What does THAT mean..
Ok sorry had to go there and if you have no clue what it is find it on youtube it’s hilarious..
I am glad she chose Roberto even though I don’t watch. lol..and I have to give her kudos for the class in not dumping Chris the typical way..

I hate ABC for the always mentioning of Chris’ mom. If I wasn’t already engaged I would totally marry Chris. When that rainbow appeared oh my I was a basket case with the tears. My fiance hugged me while trying to hold back his laughter at me.

I’m glad it was Roberto in the end. Because that means Chris is still single. My husband doesn’t share my excitement in this logic. :-)

Also, is this the first time the first impression rose winner ended up being the last one standing?

This made me feel better about laughing when the rainbow appeared in the show.

After the episode, I turned to my husband: Do you love me? Do you want me to wake up happy every day? Do you want to spend the rest of your life with me? Do you like MY eyes and MY smile?

Roberto has a way with words and proposals, for sure.

After watching the finale last night, I have this feeling that they may be the next Trista and Ryan. They seemed so sincere, unlike a lot of the Bachelor/Bachelorette couples (read: Jake and Vienna Sausage). And you were right. All along. Roberto love.

My heart broke for Chris, but kudos to Ali for not sleeping with him and then dumping him. The rainbow thing… wow. I don’t think they could make that up, at least I really hope they didn’t. Can you use photo shop on TV? lol
I really like Ali & Roberto… I hope they stick it out & stay together!

She picked the cute one. Smart.

I wonder how much it costs to go to Tahiti because those pictures are unbelievable.

I responded in the same exact way when the rainbow thing came up.

I don’t want to be a Debbie Downer, but is it just me, or does Ali look like a pineapple meringue?

LOL… You are so right about Chris. I feel truly sorry about his mother and all that he and his family has been through, but I kinda got sick of hearing about it all the time and how “amazing” his mom was. I almost fell off the couch when Ali’s mom asked Chris to talk about his mother. OMG, doesn’t she know?

I’m glad Roberto was the last man standing; I think he’s perfect for Ali. They’re the sexiest couple I’ve seen in a while. I posted about them today.

The best thing about Ali’s choice- now she doesn’t have to cheat on her husband Chris with HOT tall, dark and handsome Roberto!

But did you know that Chris’ mom was amazing?

Please tell me you are going to post about Bachelor Pad each week. Pretty please?

I was so happy Reality Steve was wrong! It was so obvious she wanted Roberto. Chris was awesome but you could tell a big difference when she was with Roberto. Plus he is smokin’!!!

I couldn’t believe how Ali’s mom kept trying to get Chris to talk about his mom. You could tell he was uncomfortable and she kept pushing! I was like shut up lady!!

I’m so disappointed Roberto won. I had it all worked out with my husband that when Roberto became the next Bachelor, I was going to go on the show, and when I was in the final four I was going to tell him I was married. Chris is a nice guy, but I’d rather stare at Roberto every week as opposed to Chris.

Yay for Bachelor Pad updates!

I would have been happy with either choice. For the first time in Bachelorette history, I think Ali actually chose the two most-normal guys there! And it was really clear on their last date together that she was sure of her feelings for him. I’m glad Reality Steve was wrong – I would have been pissed if she let 2 really great guys go. I haven’t watched After the Final Rose yet, but I really hope that Chris L will be the next bachelor…

I did not follow the show this season but somehow I still got sucked into watching the finale! Thought it was classy of Ali to let Chris go ahead of time. Hope these guys actually make it…unlike the slime and puke that were Jake and Viena!

This is the first season of The Bachelorette that I haven’t watched. I thought Ali was too whiny on The Bachelor with Jake so I didn’t want to watch an entire season starring her. But, that is pretty great of her not to have made Chris think he might get to propose. I always think that part is so cruel. I also think I didn’t watch it this season because none of the relationships work out anyway. Trista and Ryan and that other couple from Seattle are the only ones to get married. Jake and Vienna kinda ruined it for me. They were icky. And I was sad for Jillian and Ed.

I love this post – I’ve never been here before but I’ll be freaking back….did you know his mom died? He went home to help his family. How do you have a guy feel you up after that lead in?

I am SO ashamed to admit that I got all weepy watching it. I blame PMS.

Roberto is cute, but I really think kind of blah in the personality department. I really liked Chris so I’m glad we’ll see more of him next season! Yay!

I just kept thinking about you and how YOU can’t go on the next season now because Roberto is taken….Sorry, Love.

My husband was like “Oh christ, here we go with the dead mother again…” lol

I was so happy that Reality Steve was wrong! Woot woot!

I loved that Ali did not feel comfortable continuing with Chris after spending the night with Roberto. I loved the way Chris handled the situation. I was definitely Team Roberto, but like Chris a lot more now.

Bring on the Bachelor Pad!
