10 Reasons why you love your job.
10. Because even though kids boss me around all day…I can’t help but laugh at them.
9. Because if my kids want to sleep in I can let them.
8. Because I could clean if I wanted to…but don’t…because I don’t want to.
7. Because forcing children to look like this is part of what qualifies me to do what I do.
6. Because it pretty much sounds like fairies here all the time.
5. Because I can reach out for adult interaction at any time as a reminder that I actually am one.
4. Because laying down is always an option.
3. Because I can hire people I actually like.
2. Because my kids get to grow up in a house filled with friends.
1. Because as difficult as any day can possibly be? Holy hell…I get paid for this!

3.) A time when you should have listened to your mother.
4.) Your pets least likable character trait.

Jennifer says
You always get the best (and funniest) pictures! It takes a special person to do home daycare…. the fighting and the yelling… I can only take so much of that.
Mama Kat says
What fighting and yelling??
WHAT KIND OF HOUSEHOLD ARE YOU RUNNING OVER THERE!?!?!
;)
stef says
Lying down is always an option. That is hilarious. YOu are seriously hilarious. We should be neighbors…co-workers, partners in crime. Whatevah!

I love kids. I think your job would be fun! Coloring, glitter, gluing, and finger painting all day long. Plus the Barney songs, ring around the rosie’s, and hide and seek games. Then to the playground to SWING! Wee!
The travel industry (thank-you airlines) has gotten so nuts. I just couldn’t post on it. I will say..normally I *do* love my job.
My middle dog Anna is not fluffy cute, or smart like my other two dogs. She is skittish and clumsy and beats us with her fierce tail. We still love her though. She is our little creeper. There’s one in every bunch. :-D
Dominique @Dominique's Desk says
I also chose this prompt. Love your reasons
hellyamber says
Love your list, number 6 amused me especially, maybe because I know exactly what those particular fairies sound like :)
Mama Kat says
They’re not always very happy fairies, are they?
Cyrene says
I used to daydream (wait, I still daydream about it!) about running my own daycare someday too! I know it sounds crazy to some, but I love kids, really. That is a requirement at least, right? I chose this prompt too and I’m glad I did. It reminded me of the importance of my choice to be a SAHM for now. :)
HisBell says

Hats off to childcare providers, teachers, and homeschooling moms. Taking care of my own kids is my limit – there’s not enough Xanax. There’s just NOT. LOL
Mama Kat says
No….but there’s VODKA!
Los says
I wish I could lay down and sleep in my office cube right now!
Karen and Gerard says
Sounds like your job is great, except for the part about being with little kids all day. That would really make me crazy and very uncomfortable, basically a nervous wreck.
Angel says
You make it look so easy. I used to watch my sister’s kids along with mine, yeah that was enough for me lol..
Peg says
Gotta love that laying down is always an option and the perks look wonderful. Who can resist one of those hugs? Great post.

Kate says
Looks like a fun job-one I couldn’t do-but it looks like you do great at it!
Bethany says
Man, do I wish I could hire someone to hang out with me. I mean, I know that’s not really why you have an employee, but it sure would make the days more fun to have another adult to converse with. Or paint the bathroom with.
Mama Kat says
It’s so fun! I just hired an old friend of mine and I told her I’d pay her everyday to just come over. I love having her here.
I'm a full-time mummy says

Tina says
I agree with, and echo, ALL of it!
Sugar Mama says
Thanks for all of the great reminders of why I love my job too! I don’t ever get any cleaning done during the daycare day either. It just seems to add chaos to the mix.
Teresa says
Not many women can maintain such an amazing sense of humor while working with kids all day. I think that’s truly admirable. Your pics are awesome too!
Stacey says
I love it! What a sweet and funny post!
Rachel B says
Great list!
My post is kind of sad. I did the first prompt. Don’t read it if you dont like being sad!
Kelly says
I think I would have a love-hate relationship with running a day care… I love kids – they are awesome and funny and great…. But I only have so much patience… And I just know I would be completely exhausted by the end of the day! Although….. I wouldn’t have to sit in an office anymore……… hmmm………..
WTH am I Doing says
LoL I admire your ability to find such joy in your work. I couldn’t do it. I don’t have that kind of patience. :) You sure make it sound good tho!
Sarah says
Great post. Love the pictures and the reasons why you love your job! Makes me wish I could stay home with my kids. :)

Great prompts this week! I too chose the 10 reasons I love my job! Our lists were similiar, except I’m a nanny :)
Love your pictures as usual!!
Bethany says
Love it :) I just got offered a(nother) nanny position and being with kids just reminds me how fun and innocent they are :)
Scargosun says
I like the laying down part. If I had my own office I could do that but sadly…no. Oh, the adorable kids part is nice too. ;)
Momlissa says
I wish I could be a kid in your day care. It looks like such a happy, stimulating, fun environment.
I tell ya what, I have thought about doing a home based day care, but boy, I know it’s got to be such a lot of work. Still, so rewarding!
And btw, we have the same kitchen table and chairs. :)
K Odell says
As a classroom teacher, I have the same reaction as you do- I love it and get money? cool!
Allison @ Alli 'n Son says
I always thought that having an in-home day care would be more work and stress than it’s worth. But the way you describe it, it sounds like perhaps the perfect job.
Elle says
Being able to lay down whenever you want is definitely a perk!! I soooooo wish I had a job that afforded me that option. Of course, I wouldn’t just lay down; I’d end up falling asleep too!
Sarah says
Great photos and points! You are amazing!
jackie says
Sounds like a great job! I’m actually jealous!!
Mommylebron says
I loved your list! I also took this prompt and I wrote about my job as a preschool teacher. I especially love your number 7! I have long contemplated running a daycare from my home but now that I only teach part time (while my kids are at school) I enjoy being at the school more than ever!
Amy says
I never get to lay down on my job. I never get to hire who I want. Your job rocks. Although I’d go insane with a bunch of kids. Two is good for me. :)
Karen says
Yea, the laying ability to lay down on the job is definitely a bonus. I figure since there’s no sick days to take here, I ought to lay down for a bit when I’m turning green. But, I do pay for the privilege……I let my wee girl do my hair as her entertainment and I end up with at least thirty-four brightly colored clips & barrettes in my hair. :>:>
It took me all day to get this post up, but glad I could still play/write along! :>
VirtuaWoman says
Would love to take a nap after lunch. Remember the Seinfeld episode where George puts a pillow under his desk and takes a nap. Yeah, that’s going to be me :)
Jamie R. says
Loved your post. My favorite point was the first one and I LOVED that picture! Hysterical!!!
I would love to have an in home day care but I need to see how I can handle two kids under two, first. I’ll be starting that endeavor next month!!!
ElizOF says
The pictures are wonderful and those kids look like they are learning and having a good old time. Good for you! I wrote in my pet cat Tangy… the baby love of our household.

I just have to say that I absolutely loved the pictures of you in the pink shirt with a wide smile on your face. Cracked me up!
Mama Mary says
I bet you are so good at your job! Oh, and I thought I was the only one who lies down in the middle of the floor in the middle of the day. : ) I cheated on my prompt. I didn’t write it today. I wrote it a long time ago but it’s about the day my dad died, which was a day I never thought I’d make it through. I love your prompts and want to be better at following through on them!
Mama Mary says
Oh, I put my link on Mclinky, but here it is again. http://www.mamamaryshow.com/2009/06/initiation/
