It’s pumpkin patch season…and don’t worry…I did not steal any pumpkins this year.
Though the temptation was there.
Once you get away with a thrill like stealing pumpkins it’s hard to actually bring yourself to pay for them.
There was a window this weekend, of about 45 seconds that allowed us to quickly run to a pile of pumpkins, throw as many as we could onto our cart, and then speed home (after paying).
I really think the city should invest in a pumpkin delivery service so that I can actually avoid leaving my house under any circumstances.
Of course then you lose the experience of seeing thousands of pumpkins piled up together…which is somehow a very lovely site to me.
Guess the color orange doesn’t bother me so much after all.
And you lose the tradition of making the memories that you’ve been determined to keep going each year.
I think one thing you should get used to if you’re a reader of this blog, is listening to me talk about how I can’t believe how fast my kids are growing. It’s an ongoing theme that really should have it’s own category. I just can’t help it.
Let’s be honest, I’m going to be dragging these kids to the pumpkin patch with me well into their early 30’s.

Wait ’til you’re taking your kids AND THEIR kids to get pumpkins…you’ll be reminded of that ‘Circle of Life’ song – blessed to be able to share the experience one more time. Then you’ll want to put everyone in shrink wrap to keep them just as they are.

I love this post. I feel inspired to drag my now 12 & 13 year olds to the pumpkin patch yet again. Maybe they’d like to go to the Maze one near our house still…maybe not. I just look forward to the photo ops.

Complete with tractor and wagon rides, huge corn maze, petting zoo, gift store, picnic area and playground complete with huge hay rolls they can hide in, doesn’t really help much does it lol.. I know the feeling about what the frick.. I have one that is 18. I am ancient Kat, didn’t you realize that??

I love pumpkin patches and apple orchards. We had to miss one last week because of a sick kid and I was devastated. I’m still upset about it. More than my kid was.

I have never seen so many pumpkins in one place in my life.

how sad is it you guys are in winter gear and it is gonna be like 89 here today? not real pumpkin patch weather:( but we will find the time to go I have been dragging my kids and forcing them to pose in the same place so I can see how much they have grown since the previous year.
last year we were real bad and paid our fee to get in the PP did the fun stuff and left without buying a pumpkin but instead picked one up at the grocery:) it was just so much cheaper!

Where my mom lives there was a realtor that would drop off pumpkins on everyone’s door step with a card attatched. Pretty awesome self promotion!

You’re braver than I. I looked outside at the rain and thought, ‘next weekend. Screw this!’ Ahhh, fall in Seattle. :)

We started the tradition of going to the pumpkin patch this year and had a great time. Can’t wait to do it again next year, although it looks like your place had tons more pumpkins then our did!

You cannot put little girl pictures and big girl pictures next to each other!!! What are you trying to do to yourself! I did this to myself once, and 2 months later I was pregnant- couldn’t take all that growing up! Beautiful pictures, despite the weather. I love fall pictures.

Ooh, ooh, I love pumpkins! We don’t really get pumpkin patches over here, and in fact when I was growing up in Scotland it was all about the turnips (is it swede? do you call them swede? I can never remember!). But I’ve embraced my inner American (not bad for a girl from the Highlands of Scotland) and today I’m even blogging about Martha Stewart’s pumpkin pie. She gets everywhere, that woman.

I need to do that this year with Olivia. Pardon me while I go find a pumpkin patch.

Oh! I’m so jealous! I wish we had something like that in Mexico! I miss seeing piles and piles of beautiful, bright orange pumpkins.

We have one place (that I know of) locally that buys tons of pumpkins and has a “patch” each year. We haven’t been every year, but I always have the intention of going. I have the hardest time turning my intentions into reality.

Well, you keep dragging them! Mama knows best, afterall!

I can’t wait to take the boy to the pumpkin patch! My parents never took us, but this is one tradition I want to start with my child!

I’m always blown away by the photos of pumpkin markets. We don’t have anything like that here and our pumpkins are either a pale yellow colour, or a dusky grey. Nothing like your bright orange. It looks SO COOL.

We went to the pumpkin patch this weekend, but I’m not nearly so organized to have blogged about it yet. It is pretty fun to get the kiddos on the giant pumpkins.

There’s nothing wrong with tradition, is there?
Jenny says
Heh looks like fun. We don’t do pumpkins with family though because my husband is boring like that and never wants to do anything. We wait until the school takes a field trip to the farm and either my husband or I will go with our son and pick one up then.

I just had to click over to read your post about the pumpkin heist. You stole pumpkins? What the frick??
I don’t condone stealing. But I think I like you even more after reading that post.
