I know we’re tired of Halloween.
Funny how we get all excited to do the dressing up and the decorating and the crafting and then once the actual holiday hits and plows over us like a hot damn freight train, we can’t strip those decorations down fast enough.
But I can’t not post pictures of my kids in their costumes this year. Maile was a Hollywood starlet (naturally), Laina was a Littlest Pet Shop Ladybuy (naturally), and Kainoa was Thomas the Train (naturally).
Pat and I dressed up as Mary Kay Letourneau and Vili Fualaau while some of my brothers and sisters arrived as Pop-Eye and Olive Oil, AC Slater and Jesse Spano, and of course as my Grampa.
We took the kids trick-or-treating and I remembered how as a kid I couldn’t trample through our neighbors yards fast enough to get that next handful of snack sized candy.
You know you are officially an adult when you find yourself oohing and ahhing over homes and porch decor as opposed to the amount of candy filling up treat bags.

My daughter Amy didn’t go trick-or treating this year but I still helped make her a costume to wear for answering the door. I don’t think she’s ready to totally give up the whole dressing up thing. (She’s 14) Last year, and in all the previous years trick-or-treating, if the house we were headed to looked especially appealing from the outside-I’d march right up to the front door with her and try to sneak a peak at the inside while Amy was getting her candy-and sometimes if I was lucky-I’d end of getting a piece of candy too!
