3.) Describe the last thing that made you laugh really hard.
The truth is, I don’t know how to laugh. Honestly.
I used to try to force out that belly laugh that some of my funniest friends seem to have been born with. They clutch their sides and carry on forever in fits of laughter. I need to learn how to do that.
In fact, no one in my family laughs like that. I like to think that our standard of humor is set SO high that there simply isn’t enough funny in the world to impress us, but the truth is we just don’t know how to do it. We all do the Beavis and Butthead laugh. Huhuhuhuhuh…that was rad. Huhuhuhuhuh. Yeah…she said rad! Huhuhuhuh.
Since we don’t know how to laugh we have mastered the ability to listen to a joke and make it funnier. A joke is never finished in our house. We’re constantly one upping each other.
What I can say though, is that I do have a secret laugh. It comes out so rarely that it’s almost not worth mentioning. I can’t even say what causes this laugh to happen…perhaps the perfect combination of alcohol, lack of sleep, people falling, and America’s Funniest Home Video. Also sitting on my back or chest seems to help. Don’t ask me how I know this.
I just spent 30 minutes of my life looking for the perfect laughable YouTube video and failed miserably.
All this to say, I can’t remember the last time I laughed that hard. Maybe I need more alcohol…or maybe I need to pick a prompt I can actually answer.

Now it’s your turn!
Choose a prompt, post it on your blog, and come back to add your name to the link list below. Be sure to sign up with the actual post URL and not just your basic blog URL (click on the title of your post for that URL). For good comment karma try to comment on the three blogs above your name!!
The Prompts:
1.) Prenuptial Agreement…Yay or Nay? Explain.
2.) You’re not always right…no you’re not…no you’re not…no you’re not….tell us about a time you were wrong.
3.) Describe the last thing that made you laugh really hard.
4.) A letter to your future teen.
5.) Valentine’s Day is coming…share a favorite Valentine’s tradition.

I love it when my husband makes me laugh so hard I can’t breathe. That’s the only time I really truly laugh– otherwise, it’s the Beavis and Butthead laugh for me too!
I think you need more alcohol. We could all always use more alcohol.
It takes a lot to get me to laugh, really laugh too. Alcohol usual helps.
Great prompts this week!
I was kinda drunk when I wrote my post, does that count?
More alcohol is always a plus! My brother was always the one looking to one up a joke, he would fail miserably and that is what made it funny!
dude. how do you NOT know how to laugh!?!?!? makes no sense.
However, my OhMyGodYouCaughtMeOffGuard&IJustDied laugh …is scary. So maybe it’s better off you don’t have one. It’s not pretty ;)
{on another note, why do I see no ads on your blog? – don’t you like money? lol}
Alcohol helps for sure. I laugh and when I laugh too much I snort – oh yeah everyone thinks that is really cool…so maybe better not to laugh.
Lack of sleep is always a big factor for me.
The hubs and our boys LOVE love AFV! A new one we laugh at is Wipe Out! People falling down… awwwesomeness. ;)
I have a new mission in life.
I know, right? I’ll teach her how to laugh if you come up with something really, really funny for her to laugh at.
I know what you mean, Kat! It must be quite a challenge finding the perfect laughable moment in your home but you guys probably have fun trying!
I think my laugh has evolved over the years.
I’m not necessarily happy about that, since the result seems to be more of a donkey guffaw, but there you go.
The helpless laughing, that’s my favorite, though. Wheezing and tearing up–good stuff.
More alcohol!
Don’t know if you remember me, but we chatted a couple of weeks ago during the Blog Frog live chat. Anyway, I’m linking up for the first time! And I apologize, but for some reason, your button doesn’t want to show up in my post…it’s just turning the first paragraph of my text purple. But I promise I shared your link (twice)!
Have a great day! Can’t wait to keep this up every week. :)
I’m a not a good let-it-all-go laugher either. But I agree with the previous commenters, alcohol can put it out of anyone.
First week joining the workshop, looking forward to lots of good reads.
I thought for sure you’d write on the prenup or teen kid letter :-)
I have the ability to really laugh, but it’s rare when it happens. It has to be pretty good. The last youtube video that got me laughing is the Swagger Wagon video for Toyota……it’s pretty funny….it’ll get a smile at least.
I laughed alot more when I was younger. I remember sitting in European Literature in high school finding something funny…starting to laugh, and then not being able to stop. I wonder if as I have gotten older, I have become more reserved? (or boring?)
Your story above was definitely laugh worthy… :-)
Eliz
I loved this one, because I also wrote about how I don’t (can’t/don’t know how to/struggle to) laugh! I completely understand!
I’m so glad I’m not alone! I can’t really laugh, either. Normally I smile and kind of chuckle within, but nothing loud comes out. Except in high school–for some reason I had developed a really obnoxious laugh, but it went back in hiding. If I’m watching a funny movie or something really catches me off guard, that laugh can come out now and again. But, mostly, I smile and and move my shoulders up and down.
I had a tough time picking a topic this week, too. There’s the fact that I don’t laugh and that I’m rarely wrong…it was just tough. ;)
I laugh – A LOT. But I can’t stand my laugh. I have two of them – an obnoxious giggle or an embarrassing guffaw.
Aww you’re lucky. I have a dry sense of humor, and I’m fairly witty (and clearly very modest), which is best served with a straight face. But me? Nope. I have that obnoxious “can’t keep a straight face” thing. Especially when dealing with something sad or stressful. I’m the freak smiling away, pretending to cough… it’s obnoxious.
See – my family is the opposite – well my Dad, Brother and I. We are LOUD! People used to say that if they were looking for my Dad at his store they would just stop and listen a few seconds for his laugh. ;)
You do know that everyone here now has a mission don’t you? Make Kat laugh! If you’re coming to BlogHer? We’ll all be running around being as goofy around you as possible to see who can make you laugh first.
My mom rarely laughed out loud, and when we took her up on it, she said she was laughing on the inside. We loved to make her laugh on the outside!
Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU for the shout-out in your newsletter this week! :)
Not being able to laugh from deep down? That blows. One upping your family members? My favorite party trick!
Your button never works for me! : (
I’m told that I laugh like my dad…but I don’t hear it.
I love this prompt! It’s the one I picked also. And my post is also about me not laughing. That makes me want to squeeze in a big obnoxious LOL here for sarcasm.
I would love to know what your secret laugh sounds like! That in itself is hilarious!
I chose this one too. I love that you’ve mastered making jokes funnier. This prompt was a bit of a challenge for me but I had fun with it! I wrote about laughing at my own jokes.
We need a vlog of you doing the Beevis and Butthead laugh!
That would be pretty funny!
I remember when I was a kid I was ALWAYS laughing, always cracking jokes. I was the life of the party…
What the hell happened?? ;)
Ha.Hahaha. I am laughing right this second because I failed to pick a prompt that is even on the list! I visited the site yesterday and (because I am more techno-illiterate than your great great grandma) must’ve clicked on the wrong thing. I suppose I will hold off ordering my “I WIN COMPUTER” tee another week!
I picked the same prompt. At least you LOOK like you’re laughing really hard~
OMGosh! That picture just made me laugh! I couldn’t remember the last time I laughed either – kind of made me sad. So I chose a different prompt. =)
I love AFV. It makes me giggle. I’m a laugher though. My mom likes to watch sitcoms with me just because I laugh so much. I’m not sure why, I just always have!
Hmm…. anyone else have trouble copy and pasting the MamaKatsLosinIt banner html code in WordPress? I had no trouble getting the previous to load… but the new one is stubborn. *pouting*
YES! I had to close the tags within it. Hard to explain, ugh.
[a href="http://www.mamakatslosinit.com"target="_blank" ][img src="http://i913.photobucket.com/albums/ac331/mamakatslosinit/workshop-button-1.png" alt="Mama's Losin' It"][/a]
Make all the [ ] s into s and it’ll work. Now here’s hoping this comment will work without swallowing the code.
Gah. Copy/paste, then make all the rectangle brackets into the triangle ones.
You should practice a laugh with a snort in it. Every one likes a snorter. Or should I say, every one makes FUN of a snorter. Same thing.
Oh, this was the post I was getting ready to do.
Now, I can’t, b/c it’ll look like I”m copying you.
Yeah, I was going to post yesterday on how I don’t laugh hard.
and wish I did.
I’ll table it for now…bound to happen, one of these days, that we think of the same thing. Great minds and all
LOVE YOUR BANNER!!!!!!!!!!!!
Well that pic made me laugh pretty hard!
My son walking around with a box on his head is so funny. I follow behind to make sure he doesn’t walk into things.
I apologize if I posted my link several times, I didn’t see it, and still don’t so I don’t know if it posted.
Have you seen Damn You Auto Correct? It’s pretty funny.
Great post!
But, I cant get the link to work for the button! It says the html is wrong.
Dang, I wrote this last night after getting the prompt to talk about a local news story…
Don’t feel bad, I don’t like to be tickled. I don’t laugh, I scream because it actually hurts. I know, (freak)…
You are so right. You need more alcohol.
Everyone needs more alcohol.
;)
I have been feeling so BLAH lately, and this post took me all morning to write. Blame it on writer’s block. Luckily, today laughter was the best medicine and I was able to conquer the writer’s block after dropping a raisin down my shirt. :)
I laugh out loud at the most random things. Doo sits there and says it’s not dunny but I’m literally peeing myself. Thats when I laugh so hard no sound comes out just tears. Other than that it depends whose company I am in as to how I laugh. When at home it’s a real manly belly laugh (if something is funny). But when I’m out (even with Doo) I still tend to do the girly giggle with hairflick and wink. What is that about? Take care hun xx
Your post made me laugh! I had a friend when I was little who had a strange, goofy laugh. My sister and I used to make her practice laughing “normally” which involved her going “teeheehee.” We assigned her 3 practices every day and we would “test” her every week. My mother found out and we had to apologize and stop immediately! Now, I think any laugh is good!
The hearty laugh is something that Texas women have perfected, or so I’ve been told. I’m definitely a laugh OUT louder. You should totally hang out with me until you pick it up.
you laughing like bevis and butthead makes me laugh….
I have an annoying laugh, and I use it way too often, even when it’s not appropriate. We need to rub off on another. BTW, I cheated on my post again today. I actually just linked a post from last year where I wrote about the cards my dad used to send me. Why is it that your prompts always remind me of dad? :) http://www.mamamaryshow.com/2010/02/a-valentines-card-ill-cherish-forever/
I sound like a barking hyena, but at some point I ceased to care it it was annoying. Laughing is good and it is supposed to sound funny- own it!
I’m having trouble with the link today to.
Because you are too busy making all of us laugh!
America’s funniest video’s always gets a laugh out of me. The craziest part about that is, people are usually getting hurt! I know I should feel guilty for it, but I just can’t help but laugh.
I always seem to have this uncontrollable laugh at the most inappropriate places. Before I was a minister it was while sitting in church or at a funeral. Now I can’t do that because I would get de-frocked. But you should have seen me practicing a straight face from the pulpit for six months prior to taking my first church. . . not really.
But, the last thing that made me laugh really hard was an experience that was very painful but so funny I laughed at myself. I posted about it yesterday on my blog.
I laugh really hard at my hubby. He cracks me up…which is one of the reasons I married him. I also think people getting hurt is funny. I know…I’m sick…but it still makes me laugh!
I can’t think of the last time I laughed really hard either – my laugh is more of a giggle with an occasional snort. I know -how embarrassing.
The easier prompt for me was a letter to my 8 year old as a teenager.
My husband cracks me up. I swear we can be sitting at a restaurant having dinner, and he’ll say something about someone that’ll crack me up! He then just sits there looking all serious like he didn’t say a word, and I look crazy!
It takes A LOT to make me laugh too. I always say I have a terrible sense of humor, but I am changing my story to say that I have an exceptionally high standard of humor. Yep. That sounds way better.
OK, here’s one for you. I am in the labor room waiting for my first child to get the hell outta my womb. It had been about 30 hrs at this point, so my attitude wasn’t so great. The back pain was searing, so my doula suggested I get out of the bed and stand up. She had me stand and lean forward onto the tray that they have over the hospital bed, just to get some pressure off my back. My sister, who was there to coach me since my hubby was deployed at the time, was standing behind me to make sure I didn’t fall and to keep all the wires from the monitors straight etc. I told her I needed her to reach around and pull up the monitor band because the elastic was sliding off my giant belly. She reaches around and grabs both my boobs — one in each hand. She feels around looking for the monitor, which is WAY lower. I instantly stand straight up and say “you’re feeling me up?! now?!” We both started roaring with laughter. We laughed so hard we were ready to pee on ourselves. All that laughing made the next contraction a real doozy. We still joke about the way she coached me through labor by feeling me up. She says that’s what my husband would have done if *he* was there. She’s probably right.
It usually takes a lot to make me laugh and when I do laugh, it’s easily recognizable. Last couple of nights I watched some old “All in the Family” shows and laughed out loud so many times – couldn’t believe it. That’s a classic.
The key to finding that laugh is to find something funny but in an inappropriate place where you shouldn’t really laugh … then you won’t be able to stop. Churches and classical music concerts are two such places.
Your u tube video’s make me laugh my butt off. Seriously, the laugh until tears come out your eyes and you get stomach cramps laugh. The kind of laugh where you try to talk during it but it just makes you laugh harder. All this and may I tell you, I am not easily amused. You are dam funny!
What a fun place to come. I just happened upon your blog. Im very new to blogging and seem to be hooking up in the right places through surfing the blog world.
