Despite all the rioting in Athens, my husband and I were able to enjoy our trip. In fact, Pat became such close buddies with Nico the bartender that he learned all kinds of inside information in regards to the protesting and riots.
Nico said more of the people in Greece see the rioters as trouble makers. Hoodlums who want to fight for the sake of fighting. He said the way they’re going about settling the economic crisis in Greece is actually hurting them. They’ve been cutting out power, calling a strike on transportation, and creating all kinds of instability by fighting the way they are.
It’s a shame really.
And yet…
We still managed to have a lovely time.
Here’s our trip in less than 1 minute and 30 seconds.
And now you never need to go.

Wait – there are SOUL BANDS in Greece!?!?!?! Who knew??
I know right!?!
Been there and did that, so I love the refresher. Isn’t the Acropolis wonderful at night. What fun to watch sports in the home of the Olympics. I have pictures of me jogging around the site of the orignal modern Olympics. What fun you must have had. They were having an election while we were there and it seemed as if they were rioting!
What? No video of the return home?
Aw too bad.
But thanks for the trip. Now I don’t ever have to go myself.
I actually had no idea that they had Special Olympics in Greece. I thought it was an American thing! Goes to show how much I know, LOL!!
Nico is onto something there! Looks like an amazing trip! More pics, please :)
Greece! Wow. That is so cool. Thanks for the video, but I still want to go!
It looks like you had an amazing time and for such a wonderful cause! I have always wanted to go to Greece, maybe one day, but for now I have your video to hold me off for a while.
OMG, the gal dancing in the pink ruffly dress, long hair? Too funny! Wait – that wasn’t you, was it?
I know so little about the Special Olympics, so I found those video bits very interesting. From what I could see the ceremonies and the events are highly professional and competitive, which is awesome.
You have saved me so much money on not needing to go to Greece, thank you!
