I turned to add my much needed ground coffee beans to the much appreciated latte maker, but my arm hit something invisible and the coffee grinds went crashing to the ground.
Specks of black covered my kitchen floor.
I sighed.
What is my DEAL today!?!
I grabbed the broom, irritated with the waste of coffee, irritated with the clean up, irritated with the time it was going to take to make ANOTHER cup.
As I swept, I thought about my accident prone morning.
I had mindlessly rammed my shopping cart into the apple stand at the store.
“Watch out, woman driver on the loose!” the old man chuckled.
Minutes later I found myself chasing after a bag of dropped onions as they rolled across the floor.
Once home I realized the set of keys I had with me did NOT contain a house key and I officially found myself locked out. Thank goodness I leave my car (equipped with the garage door opener) unlocked at all times. Even if it has cost us in cds and loose change.
I emptied the dust pan of coffee grinds, I am SO accident prone today! It’s probably a clear sign of a lack of caffeine, I thought as I measured out a coffee re-do.
If my day of follies wasn’t so annoying it would probably be funny.
And then I turned again to add my much needed ground coffee beans to the much appreciated latte maker…but my arm hit something invisible and the coffee grinds went crashing to the ground.
AGAIN.
Bartenderrrrr!?!!?

If you NEED caffeine to competently make caffeine, how do you ever get started, right?
Rachel says
such a good point.

I have had those days….and those are the days when you need someone else to make the coffee while you sit on the couch and consume chocolate.
Caroline says
Thanks for the morning giggle! Sorry it had to be at your expense. I hope you got some coffee girl! It sounds like you need it almost as much as I do.

Sounds like that movie, “Groundhog Day.” My dad use to drop things all the time when he got old and feeble because he lost some of the feeling in his finger tips due to his diabetes. He’d get made at himself a lot even though it really wasn’t his fault. Being a Klutz is so frustrating!
Arnebya @whatnowandwhy says
The coffee beans are out to get you. As are apples, onions, keys, and likely your dog. Watch him.
@Karen and Gerard — Great. Now I’m gonna have Bill Murray’s voice in my head all day: Don’t drive angry! Don’t drive angry!

The oopsies sometimes overtake us and the more we think about them, the more accidents we have. I spilled a bowl of cereal at the table yesterday and after finishing the clean up, proceeded to knock over a glass of water on my counter with all the important stuff. You know, wallet, cash, notes, watches, etc.
Sometimes it’s just better to stay in bed and let the munchkins do the work. You have trained them to make your coffee, right??!!
Diane@BeStillaMinute says
A couple of weeks ago (and this was NOT the first time!) I forgot to put the basket that holds the filter back in the coffee maker and when I went back in the kitchen there was coffee EVERYWHERE. Except in the pot.
And the really bad thing is, my husband had done the exact same thing the morning before. It is often hard to MAKE coffee before we’ve actually HAD some!

That’s when you give up and hit Dunkin’! There is no better time for a premade coffee, and while you’re at it, it’s been such a rough day that a pastry is now in order to restore balance to your life.
Jen says
I have lived through those days. The coffee waste is almost too much to stand.

Throw your hands in the air and break out the cork screw.

Some days it does not pay to get out of bed.
Christina says
Sounds just like my day yesterday. Hopefully, you will get your caffeine fix soon and things will start to get better!

This is the sort of day that I’m having right now. I figure if I just stay really quiet and get home as soon as possible that I won’t actually harm anyone.
Kristy @PampersandPinot says
Argh, I’m not alone in having those kinds of days!
Natalie says
Painful. Absolutely painful. You had me on the edge of my seat as you were sweeping it up and DARING to try again. “Will she make it???” I anxiously asked myself. And then…again on the floor. GAH!!
My heart dropped for you.
You write thrillers, my friend. When it comes to coffee, grounds lost is no laughing matter. I hope your day turned around!

You still buy CDs?
:)
Hang in there. Tomorrow will be better!

You should get real tight with a Starbucks manager and get more beans. I might know one….
Kristen says
I have those days where you misjudge where the walls are all the time! They suck and they hurt too!
Jen {at} take2mommy says
Ugh, how frustrating. Hope your day got better after that!
Rachel says
Spilled coffee grounds. The worst! Well, except when you see a random bean on the counter or floor and you think it’s a bug. That freaks me OUT.
We have the same white Sbux coffee mugs. :)

Last night was like this. Late for my music practice at church after much homework drama, I left the house weighted down with my banjo (they are much heavier than guitars) and sheets of music ( not in the proper order) and my 6 year old daughter carrying a tub (not a bag) of toys to keep her busy. We loaded the van, pulled out of the driveway and ding ding. The “rear door ajar light” was on. I had to pull over and get out and fool with the jammed, not completely closed automatic van door. After several tries and much sweat, door was properly closed, so off we went. Arrived at church harried and not much feeling like singing Christmas music. Some nights it seems we should just stay home.
