My kid is playing me for a fool.
Some days I feel like maybe he’s a little on the slow side the way he can’t seem to process simple directions.
“Kainoa! Get down and stop throwing the couch cushions!”
Or the way he seems to think it’s hilarious every time he gets into trouble.
I mean, does he even GET that he’s in trouble?
His laughter and seeming ignorance infuriates me even more.
“WHAT’S WRONG WITH YOU!?! GO TO YOUR ROOM!”
But then I’ll catch him doing something so conniving and brilliant that it becomes clear he’s been working me over with his whole “HAW HEE HAW HEE I don’t understand the words that are coming out of your mouth” song and dance.
Like that supply kit of candy wrappers, scissors, and fruit snacks hidden in a secret passageway he dug out of the back corner of his closet with spoons.
This kid knows more than he’s letting on.

Sigh… Lol my youngest kid is about to turn two…. So young but still- it sounded like you were describing him! He literally gets THRILLED and hysterical with giddy laughter when I am angry. He actually TRIES to push for however long it takes to make me explode. I’ve tried to give him extra often snuggles and positive attention, but still, he’d RATHER see me be angry. Lol aiye! Crazy kids. I’m glad that I am not the only one that has yellow things flying around when i’m mad! Lol

That’s why he keeps laughing! The fact that he knows he’s playing you, you haven’t caught on yet, and even getting sent to his room is not punishment b/c CANDY! IN THE CLOSET! I’ll show her!

It’s not just boys either, my 20 month old is taking after the three year old, running from me and cackling the whole way. I can feel my head starting to spin!

OH I feel ya, I have an almost eighteen year old daughter and let me tell you, they are way smarter than they seem.
Read my blog you will understand and I give you kudos mama for putting up with it.

Oh….sounds like you are talking about my 6 year old son Nash. There are days I think he belongs in special ed. Then after I am at my wits end…I figure out…………..I have been played.
In our house, the sign that the adult in the family has figured it out……little feet running down the hall…and the sound of the adult opening the door so hard that the door knob goes into the drywall :)
Oh….I love parenting!

I get played for a fool on a daily basis. And it’s sad really, fooled by a 5 year old. (hanging head in shame)

AWGH – yes, I do NOT understand the “laugh in the face of your fury” response. My youngest does it, too, and it is perfectly obnoxious.

Yeah, kids are sneaky crazy little creatures.
