I had the distinct pleasure of meeting up with some fellow Seattle bloggers at Macy’s santaland for Santa pictures last week.
Mandy and her side kick picked me up and I’d be lying if I said I didn’t cling for my life as Mandy attempted to maneuver through the streets of Seattle in her Suburban. It’s a pleasure to still be living is all I’m going to say.
After photos with Jenny, Marie, Allison, Lyndsey, Tammy, and Louise we ventured into the city to continue spreading holiday cheer with the children. Well…their children. I had enough sense to leave mine behind (they had school).
In retrospect, I should have found a way to bring the kids…I had no idea so many pretty things were happening downtown at Christmas time!
We heard ‘Jingle Bell Rock’ no less than 253 times, we watched a man in gold pose on a pedestal with matching gold trinkets collected from his living room, and we rode a carousel. It doesn’t GET more magical than that.
What does your town do to celebrate the holidays?
Aimee says
This will be our third Christmas in the Seattle metro area (Eastside), and you know…I’m not sure what goes on downtown this time of year! (Thanks to the radio commercials, I understand The Nutcracker is amazing?) We did see A Christmas Carol at ACT last year & loved it so much that we’re heading back again this year. Everyone says we should check out Zoo lights and do the Argosy Santa Cruise someday. DH wants to go to Bellevue to see Snowflake Lane, so we may do that. I want to see the drummers there. I like drummers.

We have an old theater that sells beer and plays “It’s a Wonderful Life.” Yes, please!
The Queen says
I come from a really small town so all twelve of us share a bottle of gin, then we go down to the hobo camp and ding dong ditch. It’s a little tougher than normal ding dong ditching. Damn hobos hide their doorbells. It still makes for a Merry Christmas for all of us. YOu should see what we do on New Years..
Tammy says
Had so much fun with all of you girls! :) I am putting together my post right now…sorry, I talked so much! tee hee! Like I said, I feel like I know you so well and I guess that made me feel like you were a friend I hadn’t seen in ages! LOL! Happy Monday to you!
Lou Mello says
And by “so many pretty things happening”, you obviously are talking mini donuts and hot chocolate, right?? :)
Amber says
Great photos. Looks like ya’ll had a great time. :)
Susan in the Boonies says
Your face communicates expressions of emotion SO WELL!
Honestly, you NEED to be on stage.
I just love you, MamaKat.
P. S Maybe you’ll get your Christmas wish: I’m starting to re-consider letting you prank call me. Don’t tell. It’s my little Christmas surprise gift to you.
Jennifer says
They light up city hall and have a lighted Christmas parade.

May says
OK. There is something about the shot of you dropping your wish list in the Santa Mail that made me laugh out loud! You are a hoot!
mandy @ harper's happenings says
It’s a Durango and you were stressing me out!
wine soon, please.
also, Harper won’t stop talking about you.
Jen says
How fun.
To celebrate Christmas in our town, I don’t break people’s noses when they get in my way when I am mission shopping. It’s my gift to the town.
Jen says
Aww you’re so sweet!
Abbie Dahl says
Fun day! Did you intend to write “their children” instead of “they’re children”? I enjoy your blog! :)
Leigh Ann says
Austin puts up a huge tree of lights in the middle of the downtown park (stemming from the “moontower” if you’ve seen Dazed & Confused), and it’s a blast to go and spin under the tree, eat kettle corn, and gorge on funnel cakes. They used to have a huge display called the Trail of Lights, but no funding the past few years. :(
rachel says
jealous. but whatever. I was probably busy making baklava anyway.
Jessie Powell says
Oooh – if I lived someplace that did cool stuff like that, I’d let them tag along. BUT. I’d make someone else drive.
And for you, there’s always next year!
Kristen says
Annapolis, MD does a parade of lights on the water. People decorate their boats and head out on a specific Saturday night along the downtown waterfront. It is beautiful to see the lights reflecting off of the water.
Motherhood Truth says
Well to answer your questions I guess I just say “ditto” LOL. I have yet to take the kids to Seattle this time of year, I am not even sure why, all I have to do is hop on the ferry.
stef says
Wow! That looks like a lot of fun…especially the reindeer.
Monica says
I used to live in Seattle. Your lovely photos of Seattle at Christmas are making me nostalgic. Sigh.
jennyonthespot says
I love a chance to fawn over your awesome self… But to answer your question… when I don’t go to the big city… our fair Faux-wegian town has a boat parade in the bay and Santa hijacks one of the firetrucks and rideas about different neighborhoods several nights and hands out stuffed animals. I love small town livin’, but love living close to a big town :)
Rachel (Totally Ovar It) says
Whaaaat? So many fun bloggers in the Seattle area! I think we should plan a get together! Great photos!
