A Pinterest Guide

Post image for A Pinterest Guide

After joining Pinterest I noticed many people have a hard time deciphering between the ‘pinnable’ and non ‘pinnable’ content.

I created this pinterest guide to help you understand what is worthy of a pin and to ensure your experience with Pinterest (and mine) is both positive and meaningful.

I’m just glad I can help.

Hahaha…you mean it’s about as clear as mud? I may or may not have been hopped up on Mountain Dew when I created that pretty diagram.

So I think what you’re saying is if it can’t benefit you directly, you’ll not pin it, even if it is an outstanding content…and it better be pretty, dammit.

Makes sense to me!!!

Awesome…. Sad too as there is some truth to it. I have found myself at the very beginning of my pinterest life pinning tons! Then I realized I didn’t want to live in fake reality and removed a bunch of pins and turned my boards into more of what reflects me, or things I would like to to within reality. Pinterest’s tag line should be: “Reality check”. So…where’s your link to your boards?

Well that might have been a smart thing to add to the post! I’m here: http://pinterest.com/mamakatslosinit/

I think in the beginning I didn’t know WHAT to do with that site. Now I really like it, but use it more as a bookmarking system and also to promote some favorite blog tip articles etc…

I think I refer to my ‘shopping’ and ‘recipe’ boards most frequently!

Thanks! I do think Pinterest needs to improve their search capabilities. It seems to only work best for categories and the comment text, not people. I’ve had a terrible time finding people. It’s still new so I will be patient. Yes, bookmarking is perfect. Helps my mom with her home remodeling ideas. Happy weekend!!!!

Thanks for clearing that up. I think. Actually, I’m pretty sure I’m just more confused now.

Thanks for the chart. It will help with my new addiction. Pinterest is wonderful for ADD folks like myself.

heehee I repinned the chart too :)

HHonestly, I started on Pinterest when it first started and no one knew what it was and I have a gazillion pins and lots of boards and the one thing I would say I have gotten from Pinterest by being a nutjob is lots of new readers to my blog.

Love it! Pinterest has definitely started become more of a social media tool for me lately than merely a time-waster or an omg-that-is-so-cute-must-repin place to hang out!

This is hilarious. And helpful, thank you. I’ll be sure (once I actually join; I know, I know!) to pin this for others like me who are fighting yet one more time zapper. (As I try to remember “it’s probably worthless.”)

Laurie-Cat (huge fan) just wants to know how to get in to Pininterest. I asked for an invitation, twice from them. Nothing, nada, bupkes. Not that I would know what to do with it if I was IN, but I think I just want to be invited…….you know what I’m saying. Plus now I would have your guide…any suggestions?

Oh, this cracks me up! I do wish people would have a board of “things I’d love as a gift” would make gift-giving so much easier. Of course, I’d feel weird making one, but I want everyone else to have one.

I LOVE you because all of a sudden I got an invite from Pininterest or whatever it is called…..I have no clue what I am doing though I do have an account. Where on earth do I get the pins? I need a url? Say what? I have two followers. Two followers of nothing? And I’m following everyone that I didn’t even know I was following. Speak for the people Mamacat and show us how to do it. Step by step……PLEAAAAAAASSSEEEEEEEEEEE.
