Evolution of a Power Outage

The evolution of a power outage begins with…

1. Hey kids! Look at the snow falling! You don’t have school today…wahoo!

The view from our front door. :)

2. Sounds like school is closing for another day…who wants hot chocolate?

Spent the last 30 minutes doing this with the kids. (try not to be jealous of my outfit)

3. I DON’T KNOW WHERE YOUR BOOTS ARE…why is school closed again? I mean HONESTLY!

I do believe in being threatened in this photo.

4. The power is out…crap I was in the middle of a project online. Oh well, I’ll just throw this load of laundry in the dryer. Haha, oh yeah the power’s out. I should tweet about how I just tried to use the dryer when I knew the power was out. Haha, oh yeah the power’s out. CRAP! Honey, we NEED a hotel. With wifi. Pronto.

Snuggling my boy just before our power went out.

5. STOP JUMPING…THIS ISN’T A PLAYGROUND! Seriously…whose idea was the hotel?

Sledding

6. This is the second day without power…do we have ANY IDEA WHEN IT’S COMING BACK ON?

The Pacific Northwest was nailed with an ice storm last night...here's our pretty frozen tree.

7. I just…can’t…take it anymore. Is this the End Times? Why is life…so…hard!?!

8. The power’s on! THE POWER’S ON!! Hal-lay-Loo-YUH!

I'd say it was a good day.

9. Boy, having the power out for three days sure makes you appreciate all we have, doesn’t it? Crazy how dependent we are on it…will you pass the remote and bottle of Jack?

10. Hey kids! Look at the snow falling! You don’t have school today…wahoo!

The view from our front door. :)

And here I highlight the happy times:

(video here)

Someday I’ll remember to turn my phone the other way when recording. I think.

Cheers to POWER…and to happy times and to very short memories.

Three days without power and I’d be chugging that bottle of Jack. When we had a hurricane coming, I bought a portable charger for my cell phone so I could still hit up Twitter and Facebook for more than a day. Priorities.

Are you nutty yet? Good luck ! I went six days once. Made hubby buy a generator after that thrilling adventure.

oh the “end times” reminded me of a book I read for my “booklist of 2012″ called The World As We Knew It and yeah it was LAME….
That’s right girl who needs wine when you got a bottle of jack!Hope you had an extra swig for me!

You kill me. That’s almost as good as “You complete me”.

That’s awesome! Love the giggles, and the music. Perfect. Well except the power out part. Gotta love winter!

Yep – it’s those interruptions that make for such great times on the journey. The Plan B’s. The outages. What fun! I enjoyed just reading and watching.

In this day and age, I think its just rude to be without power. Rude, I tell you.

We had a snow day once. In 2004. But I could tell you some stories about hurricane days…

Those power company guys deserve a medal or something. I can’t imagine working in those conditions.

I live in the suburbs of Chicago and last summer (2010) we had a massive 4 (6 for some people) day long power outage. I feel your pain.

We lost power for 2.5 days last winter. I trudged out to the car to charge my phone giving the lie that I was going to warm it up and clean it off. At least it got warmed up.

I WANT A SLED!

Oh America…welcome to a Canadian winter.
Actually, in my neck of the woods, we have had only one snow fall that lasted a day.
Ironic thing is my husband had this brilliant idea to install an outdoor hockey rink the backyard.
Well at least it’ll make a nice pond in the summer.
ps. It was 50 degrees today.

How many days were they out of school!? Yes, when that hurricane that wasn’t that big of a deal ( I can’t even remember it’s name) came up the east coast this past August, it knocked our power out and we were without it for four days. It was like the apocalypse- my husband was away on a military trip and it was just the kids and I, eating crap we could grill on the grill and boil on our gas stove. It sucked. We couldn’t even go to a hotel because they had no power either. I feel for ya… the kids drove me nuts and I realized I hate camping- especially in my own house!

Omg three days…yikes! We lost power for an hour and half and I thought I’d die! Bless you!

HAHAH. Gorgeous photos.

I could never survive without power. I mean how could I watch Real Housewives? How could the children watch Scooby Doo? The internet I could get on my phone… until it died. Then there would be real trouble.

You may remember me from a blog, The Art of The Pig http://blog.charcuteire.com/ and I also now do http://northridgeroad.blogspot.com/ (The Kitchens of North Ridge Road).

I had lost your web site due to a computer failure and just happened to notice a comment you left on a blog post of mine. Will be putting you back in favorites.

2 years ago my kids had a total of 7 days of school between December 14th and January 29. Aside from the Christmas break the rest was snow days or flood days depending on the temperature. It would snow and snow and snow.. then when the roads would be drivable it would rain and rain and rain which would melt the snow snow snow and flood the roads cause I live in hicksville.. yeah. I survived. I don’t know how it is all a blur now.
