2.) It happened at Disneyland…
How convenient that this week’s writing prompt asks for a Disney memory…it’s almost like I planned that.
Last year around this time we took our girls to Disneyland, but left our three year old behind. I think it was a good decision for us at that time, but one year later he is READY!
This week is his week to shine at the magic castle. We’ve saved up (holy expensive trip planning with three kids) and have surprised our kids with a second trip to the happiest place on Earth. As I write this, the kids don’t actually know we’re going yet. We sent the girls to school, Kainoa is clueless as usual, and we’ve been packing behind their backs.
When I return I will have a full report as well as a video capturing the moment they find out they’re going to Disneyland. In the mean time, I leave you with last year’s surprise video.
(Video here)
I wish I could take you with me.
Well.
…some of you.
Now it’s your turn!

Choose a prompt, post it on your blog, and come back to add your name to the link list below. Be sure to sign up with the actual post URL and not just your basic blog URL (click on the title of your post for that URL). For good comment karma try to comment on the three blogs above your name!!
The Prompts:
1.) Share your favorite part of your child’s bedroom.
2.) It happened at Disneyland…
3.) Indorporate the following line into a poem of your own: “Catching air with my fingers” (inspired by Buttered Toast Rocks)
4.) Are you feeling brave? Ask your child where babies come from and share their answers.
5.) Write about the last time you laughed until it hurt…what happened?

I so want to surprise my kids with a trip like this. Maybe one day.
Ahhh, that’s awesome! 2 years in a row….LUCKY! Have a blast….
I can’t wait until the day when we can afford to go again. Hopefully the boy is 4 or older so that he can get something out of the experience (without giving the rest of us a headache!).
Have fun!
Have fun! We have never been. I hope to take the girls someday soon.
We have taken our kids twice to Disney – once to Florida, and once to Paris.
We told them by wrapping a Mickey helium balloon in a large box for them to open – Mickey floated out …. it took some longer than others to work it out.
Have a wonderful trip, and THANKS for burning “It’s a Small World” tune back into my brain again!
Very cool, MK. Very cool indeed. You guys will for sure have a great time. I bought my son a broom for his birthday and plan on surprising him with it this weekend. I think that’s the same as Disney, don’t you?
I hope that you have THEBEST time in the world!!!!
I’m such a Disney mom and have been planning my daughters 5th birthday (next March) trip to Disneyland since the day she was born!! Can’t wait to take her and my neice!!
Have FUN!! We did the surprise thing last year, too. It was such a blast.
We took our kids to Disney (my husband’s parents did actually) last summer. We tried to surprise them and not tell them until right before we left the house. It backfired. 4 of the kids were thrilled and one, the oldest, was petrified! He hates surprises and change and we should have thought about that. We finally coaxed him into the car and he did in fact have a great time down there, but still it would have been nice to not have had a freak out at the beginning of the trip.
I should surprise The Dudes with a trip. I guess I just enjoy lording it over them too much beforehand. I should probably break that mold and try the surprise thing.
I love that you surprised them and filmed it. I so totally would do that because I think the kids wouldn’t sleep a wink the whole week before we left. Hope you have fun!
It looks like (Disney) Heaven! I hope you all have the BEST time. :)
What a cool surprise. Traveling with kids can be sooooo expensive, but its awesome when you save up and have dedicated funds. Have a great time!
I remember last year’s video and how you surprised your kids. Cool Mom, you! We’re planning a trip this May! I love that place :)
I cannot wait to see their surprise!
Awww, have a BLAST! We went in October, and my boys are asking all.the.time when we are going to go next. We did the same thing, and left the baby girl with my parents. It was a great decision, and the next time we go, it will be game on with all three! Can’t wait to read about your trip!
Have a great trip to Disney with all your kids this year.
We are going (to Disney World) again in June… for MY birthday! I can’t wait!
Sounds like a wonderful surprise! Let us know how it goes!
What a great surprise!
We are going in 12 days. It was supposed to be a surprise but I can’t keep my mouth shut.
So excited!
Lucky you! Enjoy the trip and can’t wait to see the new video! :)
Fun times! I’ve never been to Disneyland since I live on the other side of the country but I have been to Disney World a few times. We took the boys in June of 2009, right after school got out. It was so packed and so god awful hot and humid! I vowed right then and there to never go back in the summertime!
We live about 3 hours away from Disney World and I really want to go and take my youngest. My two older ones have been a couple of times and now I want to share the magic with little one, too. But like you said, we have to save a little more to take all three!!!! Have so much fun.
have a good time. I’ve only been to Disneyland once (when I was 8) and nearly 50 years later it remains as one of favorite childhood memories. kaye—the road goes ever ever on
No need to take us along! I live in the area! I’ll meet you at the gate… Oh you didn’t mean me (and the four kids and the Dh) exactly? Ok. Have fun.
We went to Disneyworld in December to see it decorated for Christmas, and my daughter’s going to Disneyland in May to celebrate her college graduation…Yay!
Your facial expressions crack me up!
We took our boys to Disney World almost 3 years ago. Hubs had won the trip through work and it was all-expenses paid. The boys keep asking when we’re going back- especially my youngest, who doesn’t remember being there. Someday, though it won’t be in the same style as we went last time since it will be on our dime. LOL
The thing that struck me most about the video is how smiley your girls were after having been woken up so early and placed in the car. Mine would have been far less agreeable.
LOL at the neverending Small World ride. We skipped that one entirely after watching a video of it on Youtube. Your video? Way better. Loved it. Have a wonderful time!
Enjoy! Disney is our favorite. I think the next time we go, we’ll surprise Amelia too. That would be extra fun!
totally-super-awesome.
