I’m convinced these early years with my kids are some of the best I’ll ever have.
Our days are relatively mellow. And happy.
They’re little personalities have not been scarred by heartbreak or loss.
They are easily entertained with markers and new coloring books.
They do not stay out late, they do not go to parties, they do not date, and they do not drive.
They are in bed by 9pm every night, they delight in all of life’s simple things, I am one of their favorite people in the whole world (a privilege for sure), and they are safe.
I hate knowing how quickly it can all change. In just one minute, one bad friend, one wrong turn, one bad choice, one irresponsible adult…all our happy work can come undone.
Why can’t I keep them safe in bubbles forever?
Just Look how much fun they’d have!

You mean to tell me you actually got your children in bubbles and then you LET THEM OUT?!?! What were you thinking??
I love that you appreciate what a special time this is. Because soon enough they’ll be grown and you’ll wish you could rewind.
Mama Kat says
You know….they were charging 8 bucks for about 5 minutes in those bubbles. It’s not that I WANTED to let them out…it’s just that I ran out of cash.
Perhaps I’ll put a paypal donate button on my blog for the bubble fund?
Me says
I hear you loud and clear.
Gigi says
You mean to tell me there are actual bubbles you can put your kids in?! How did I not know this when mine was small? I would have put him in and kept him there!
Mama Kat says
Now we just need a bubble that not only keeps them SAFE…but also young. Who can we get to create something like this?
Kisatrtle says
I hear what you are saying, but living in a bubble isn’t really living :-)
Mama Kat says
Well…you can’t really say until you’ve tried it right? I mean we could toss in phones and toys and what not.
Kathy says
My daughter is graduating HS and just turned 18…..we made it! Well this far in the bubble…..college scares the crap out of me….that’s when the real world starts! All you can do is hope and pray you did your job right!
Mama Kat says
So true! I’m nervous about high school and even middle school…when they reach college I think I’ll consider going back for my masters. We can be ROOMIES!

those bubble things look like fun i want to play
Mama Kat says
I’m not gonna lie, I totally wanted to try it!
Jen says
Forget the kids – I want to live in a bubble like that – it looks like fun! ;)
Loukia says
I often think the same thing… we need to totally make bubbles they can live in forever!
Jennifer says
Oh yes. Exactly this!
tracy@sellabitmum says
Oh I so agree – I love this time – these ages right now. As soon as the figure out how to make the perfect cup of coffee for me, my life will pretty much be perfect. xo

Enjoy the bubble of little ones. But believe it or not another lovely bubble arrives when they are older and become fun all over again. It could be the middle phase of teen-ism that the bubble often pops and out come the monsters.
But the 20’s and up are really wonderful!!
Susi says
My kids loved those bubbles. They had so much fun when they did it at the fair. I wish I could have left them in there forever!!!
wendy@chezchloe says
How about a bubble in a cave?
So just where are those adult size bubbles anyway!
And you are right, these are great days… then there will be some rough ones… then they will be great again.
I say if we could just limit there exposure to all the crap in the media it would be a great start. They should just read cool blogs!
Daddy Scratches says
Well said. *sniff*
Dana says
I feel the same way. Wonderful post!
Kristen says
I would have been so claustrophobic in that plastic bubble. Oh my goodness! They would’ve carried me away in a straight jacket but if I could put my girls in one to keep them safe…love this idea!
Amy says
Seriously, those look like so much fun! I want some for our backyard for the kids to play in. Or, you know, forget letting the kids play, that would be a fun adult drinking game with sippy cups so we don’t spill! ;)~Amy

I wanna ride in a bubble on water! (And duct tape bubble wrap to my kids’ bodies so they remain unscathed by life).
Gina says
Way cool thing to do. I want in that bubble on the water. I love the pictures. It is such a sweet time.
They do grow and there are challenges but they begin small and as you begin to get your feet wet, they get a little bigger so you can get more used to them. And so it goes!
Not Winning Mom of the Year says
This is such a wonderful post. Sometimes it is so easy to forget to stop and enjoy in the chaos of “everyday”.
May says
This one went straight to my ‘mom’ heart. So true that these are some of life’s very best years. So true that we wish we could protect them and sadly, so very true that one malevolent adult could damage that sweet perfection. All the mom hopes, dreams and fears wrapped up in one big, shiny bubble! Pitty the fool who might try to pop it!
Marta says
Where is this? How do I get in one? That looks AMAZING. They did something like this on America’s Next Top Model once… not that I watched it…
Susan in the Boonies says
Yes, yes and yes. Such a great time they are in/you are in right now!
Such awesome pictures of fun, and joy, and happiness!
Those tween years are PRECIOUS. They truly were some of my favorite years!
(But these years are good, too.)
Honest!

I feel the SAME way! I am always talking about how I just want to take my little family and live in a bubble. Once I became a mom, the world became a scary place.
