Getting My News From Ellen

Post image for Getting My News From Ellen

This week on Mommalogues I ran my mouth on topics about family pets, our preferred news sources, baby’s first steps, and vacation.

I introduced Jack in this video and encourage the world to get themselves one as well. Even though he appeared to be a tad camera shy:

And my face turned red after a small mix up in this video. I also gave a shout out to Twitter for being my go-to news source:

Although, after the tragic shooting in Colorado I have to say I sometimes kind of hate the internet for over sharing the news with me. Everywhere you virtually turn someone is sharing another piece of the story and it’s all just so…sad.

Perhaps I should go back to getting my news from Ellen DeGeneres:

Where do you get your news?

I get my news from several sources that are all gathered on my homepage. Unfortunately this does lead to some frustration as I’m not always ready for it first thing in the morning when I turn on my computer.

I have had my household email @ Yahoo, since 2001 . I get my news from the Yahoo ‘front page’. If something urgent is going on, I will go to the TV news, but if I watch regularly, I get really sad.

I do a mixture of different news sources. Twitter and Facebook are on the list but not very high. I like to watch the news on TV and I receive a newspaper Thurs – Sunday.

I also receive various newsletters that keep me pretty informed as well.

I have such a news routine it borders on obsessive. Wake up: flick on local morning news program. Catch local news headlines. Switch channel to CNN. Watch/listen to CNN while showering/dressing/prepping for the day. Go downstairs and read paper. Through the day, check in with CNN, CBC, CFRA (international, Canadian, local) websites in that order. Go to sleep listening to The National. (Canadian broadcaster CTV’s late night news show). Any deviation in this pattern, I suspect, would lead to meltdown.

Usually CNN or local news in the morning. I refuse to watch the news before bed anymore and normally there needs to be a reason I have CNN on (my husband is more of a CNN all the time/anytime guy).

I can’t watch the TV coverage of the latest gun carnage. It’s too much and I’ve seen it too many times before. I get most of my news on the Internet where it’s easier to click away. Although, Ellen seems like a damn fine idea.

I feel so dumb right now. When I first read the title, I thought maybe you had finally heard from Ellen for real and were going to be on her show. I’m disappointed, but the hilarious clips cheered me up!

David, Facebook, and Twitter. Usually in that order during the day. He watched the news every morning and covers the high points for me. The rest of it I pick up online.

I am AWFUL about the news or current events. My Yahoo page, Facebook and Twitter are about it. I can’t bring myself to even watch the news because there is always a story that freaks me out or makes me more anxious about raising kids in our world today. Loved the clips and how cute were you when the magazine was upside down. :)

You are so much fun to watch.

What’s this “newspaper” of which you speak?
