I recently joined Mandy from Harper’s Happenings for a trip to Seattle for a book signing with Jenny Lawson. I had warned Mandy that navigating through the city was not a ‘strong suit’ of mine, but I think the driving into oncoming traffic might have tipped her off.
We survived.
We enjoyed cocktails.
We bought books and we listened to The Bloggess read a funny excerpt from her book.
As we waited in line for our time with Jenny I told Mandy she’d better start thinking of something witty to say so that she’d be memorable, but we overheard the gal in front of us telling Jenny how she saved her life and we both knew we couldn’t really top that.
I was able to capture the entire evening in this 1 minute 15 second video…so now you can say you went too:

That was funny!
Super jealous!
That looks so much ‘hipper’ than our book signing with Jenny last week – as it was at a mall Barnes and Nobles. We need hipper places and harder bread.
xo
Looks like it was a fabulous time! LOL! A good glass of wine makes everything better. I couldn’t get my volume to work but still managed to laugh with you as always!
What a fabulous evening all around! And no, there is no way to top “You saved my life.”
Hee! Looks like all-of-a-sudden so very much FUN! Love!
{P.S. I went to the one in Edina and ohmygoodness did it ever feel so very GOOD to LAUGH, didn’t it?!}
Yeah, I’m struggling to think of what would surpass “you saved my life”. Thunder stealer! What’s more, though, is you kinda can believe that lady was telling the truth, right? Amazing the lives Jenny’s touched.
Am I the only one who totally danced in their chair once they recognized the song?
Am I?
I wish I’d been able to catch one of her signings. Maybe next time…
Nope I danced too! And was brought back to my childhood of watching my absolute favorite show Punky Brewster!!! It made the video that much more fun…not that it wasn’t fun to begin with!
Looks like a ton of fun. Thanks for bringing us there with your fun video!
Fun! Love the video. :-)
I went to a book signing by the Pioneer Woman when she came through Cincinnati last year. My friend and I (with 5 kids in tow) waited and waited and waited for hours through the dinner hour stuffing our kids with mints and lemonade. We finally gave up waiting for our letter to be called to get in line (we were given K and when we left they were still on G) and all went our separate ways.
But it was fun. I’m thinking your method of adding a glass of wine would have been even more fun though….
Dang, I’m so bummed I couldn’t go to one the Seattle signings. Looks like you two had a lot of fun
Yes, so now i HAVE been too! That was gripping. I felt the excitement so vividly. I swear I even had bread crumbs scattered over my bosom as though I too had feasted on the bread and wine!
Beautiful! Wish I had video footage from when I went to Pioneer Woman’s book signing. Sigh. Jenny Lawson is definitely next on my list!
Awesome. I was sad that I missed the one in Houston, but it was a work day. {sigh}
Love it. Love all of you, and Jenny.
That was funny! I love your blog too xx
I do believe you couldn’t have found a better vlog co-star than Mandy… match made in heaven.
So glad you got to go! We went the next night at Costco and I’m so glad I went then. I missed her reading but I couldn’t get off early enough to make it on Thursday. It wasn’t crowded at Costco and she was super sweet!! (I was really nervous!)
This was so much fun! Love the video. :)
Wait…so do you live in WA? Do you love it? I’m trying to talk my husband into moving there (from Florida).
Looks like a great time, being your first book-signing and all ….and a great bookstore. We had a wonderful one in our small town and it had to close. I still can’t bear to take the bumper sticker for it off my car.
Oh I loved Jenny’s book so much! Thanks for letting me pretend to come along. Awesome video
