2.) 10 reasons you should be glad I didn’t blog in my 20′s. (Inspired by Wendi Aarons and friends)

When I saw that Wendi Aarons and company had begun a meme of posts titled “10 reasons you should be glad I didn’t blog in my 20′s” I just knew I HAD to invite myself to join the fun! One of my mantras to live by is “when not invited, invite self”…and that’s exactly what I’ve done here.

So what would my blog have been like in my 20′s? This was really fun to think about!

I would have shared videos that make me cringe to look back on.

I would have posted unflattering pictures of myself.

I would have blogged about hurt feelings I maybe got from other bloggers who called me “too big for my britches” in a blog post about me WHEN I THOUGHT THEY WERE MY FRIENDS.

I would have over shared about my birth control.

I would have posted embarrassing pictures of myself without asking.

I would have jeopardized my job by blogging about it in great detail.

I would have written about how I was thinking about giving “Twittering” I try.

I would have admitted to my deep desire to get in my daughter’s face and call all the kids ugly.

I would have daydreamed about divorce and talked about ignoring my own crying children.

I would have celebrated the big 3-0 on my blog and…wait. A. Second…I WAS blogging in my 20s wasn’t I!?!

Maybe that wasn’t such a great idea after all…

Now it’s your turn!

Mama's Losin' It

Choose a prompt, post it on your blog, and come back to add your name to the link list below. Be sure to sign up with the actual post URL and not just your basic blog URL (click on the title of your post for that URL). For good comment karma try to comment on the three blogs above your name!!

The Prompts:

1.) When you were in high school what was your favorite song? What did it mean to you then and what does it mean to you now?
2.) 10 reasons you should be glad I didn’t blog in my 20′s. (Inspired by Wendy Aarons and friends)
3.) If you had to select a color to pick your personality what would it be? (inspired by Jamie Miles)
4.) Inspired by Pinterest.
5.) Share how you came up with your kids names!

Ha! Well, you were clearly more evolved and interesting during your twenties than I was. But then, I am MUCH older than you, so maybe I’m not remembering myself that clearly.

Southern Angel February 7, 2013 at 4:03 am

Yeah let me set the age gap here for you.. In my 20′s internet was not existent. Yes Kat there was a time there was no such thing.

Kat February 7, 2013 at 3:57 pm

I think the internet became a “thing” when I was a senior in high school. That’s when AOL started sending out 30 day trial CDs that you could pop into your computer and wait forever for dial up to connect you. :)

Kim February 7, 2013 at 4:24 am

This is the prompt I chose…be happy there was no opportunity for me to blog back then – it would have gotten ugly.

Really? You overshared about your birth control?

Kat February 7, 2013 at 3:58 pm

Yep. Talked all about my IUD and the crazy person it turned me into. Fascinating, no? ;)

Tiffany February 7, 2013 at 5:12 am

I had a hard time picking this week…I think I’m going to have to do this one too!! :)

OneMommy February 7, 2013 at 5:44 am

Thanks so much for the fun prompt of not blogging in my 20′s…. The world should be glad I didn’t! LOL.

Bridget @ Le. Rheims February 7, 2013 at 5:52 am

If I blogged in my 20s most of what I wrote would probably be pretty similar to what I write now, with 2 more kids. :)

Katie February 7, 2013 at 6:37 am

I started blogging in my 50′s. Like Southern Angel, no internet.

mommylisa February 7, 2013 at 6:38 am

OMG – you are too freaking YOUNG. If I would have blogged in my 20′s it would have been about the cool new kids in movies, “The Brat Pack” and OMG have you heard about “grunge”??? And working in radio all the weirdos you meet. :(

Kat February 7, 2013 at 4:00 pm

Oh how I did enjoy the grunge era…so proud Seattle could bring that to the forefront of American fashion. …i think.

Had I blogged in my 20′s, I think I would have bored people to death because my life just wasn’t that exciting, not ended up with my husband because I would have blogged about all the “dumbass” things he did (but then that would have made me a bigger dumbass for staying with him) or gotten fired because I would have blogged about my classroom (oh, the blog fodder that was!) and the craziness that students brought on. Side note: Hubby is a much better husband than he was a boyfriend…I got lucky.

Jodi T. February 7, 2013 at 6:47 am

Mama Kat, I’ve enjoyed all of your “20′s blogging”. You are so freaking hilarious (and relatable). Here’s to even better “30′s blogging” :)

Kat February 7, 2013 at 4:24 pm

It’s amazing how totally silly some of those posts were…I mean I might have been in my (late) 20s, but I was still a full grown adult! I think back then you just didn’t really grasp what blogging truly was and what it was going to become. So I just shared EVERYTHING! lol

Jodi T. February 7, 2013 at 4:50 pm

No! It should be a rule that you have to be silly every once in awhile. With kids and everything else, we have to be able to laugh. Especially at ourselves.

Helena February 7, 2013 at 7:02 am

Ha! I LOVE your mantra. Words to live by. I shared why I named my daughter Syndil- people always ask, but in the past 7 months, I just never wrote about it. Thanks for the kick in the pants!! But your blogging in your 20s post was so awesome, I think I’m going to do that one, too- and then schedule it for Friday. So, inspired again!! My readers are going to be like “3 posts in 1 week? Is the world ending??”

marie February 7, 2013 at 8:12 am

I just peed a little because I was laughing so hard reading your old posts. Love you, Mama Kat!

Kat February 7, 2013 at 4:25 pm

Sadly I have even funnier ones that I was just too embarrassed to pull back up but not embarrassed enough to delete for some reason.

Darcy February 7, 2013 at 8:55 am

I was blogging in my 20s as well but on a couple different blogs. Ah how life was so different for me then! I need to go read some of these posts I missed :)

Xiomara Maldonado February 7, 2013 at 9:23 am

Thank you for sharing all of these posts! I’m blogging, now, in my 20s….I hope I haven’t written anything I’ll regret in my 30s!

Ann February 7, 2013 at 10:04 am

Touche, young lady. Touche.

Shell February 7, 2013 at 10:26 am

Now I just feel ancient since I didn’t start blogging until I was in my 30s.

Jen February 7, 2013 at 10:31 am

Ok, I gotta say this post was a brilliant idea to get more page views… click those links, baby.

Also, we weren’t blogging in our early twenties so it all still counts.

Kat February 7, 2013 at 4:34 pm

Yeah, early 20s would have been a whole different girl.

Andrea February 7, 2013 at 10:45 am

Ok so I feel a bit old now. But inviting ones self is really an under-rated and under-appreciated practice! :)

Kat February 7, 2013 at 4:36 pm

Yes, I like to think of it as a real asset to my personality regardless of the weird looks I get from people.

Kristin February 7, 2013 at 11:04 am

Oops! I entered twice.

Miriam Gomberg February 7, 2013 at 11:23 am

Why wait for an invitation? Like you, I prefer to jump right in. I don’t know what my blog would have looked like in my 20′s so I skipped over that one. I was way tooooooo serious back then (and a new mom to boot). Life is so much more fun in my 40′s anyway. Why go back?

Kat February 7, 2013 at 4:36 pm

You? Tooooo serious? I can’t even imagine!!

Julia February 7, 2013 at 2:50 pm

I started blogging at 29, it wasn’t pretty but had I started any earlier it would have been much worse.

Kat February 7, 2013 at 4:38 pm

100% agree with that one!! I think at 28/29 I was just more willing be as “edgy” as possible. But I read those posts now and I just think some of them come off as obnoxious.

Alisha February 8, 2013 at 3:36 am

I would have not kown the first thing about blogging in my twenties. I got my first computer when I was 24 and no way would I have been able to figure it all out. I needed years to get here lol

Names…that is what I wrote about this time around….one is a certified true stripper name…yep going to hell for naming my kid after a stripper…perfect!

Kisatrtle February 8, 2013 at 5:43 pm

So very funny

the princess blogger February 8, 2013 at 6:50 pm

So, I should ASK for permission BEFORE I post embarrassing pictures on my blog? Hmmm…kinda takes all the fun out of it, don’t you think? I’m in my 40′s and just don’t really care anymore!

kristen February 9, 2013 at 2:58 pm
