My daughter bounced through the front door with a quick question…
“Mom? are those cherries in our tree okay to eat? Because I just ate a bunch!”
And I was all, “…we don’t HAVE a cherry tree…”
I was alarmed, but I couldn’t be bothered to investigate.
I still have no idea what cherries she was talking about, but I discouraged her from eating random bits of “fruit” in our yard from here on out.

“I was alarmed but I couldn’t be bothered to investigate” Ha ha ha ha…!
Love it! If I was on the couch with a book, I’d probably say the same thing.

I give you credit; I would have freaked out! Like, “Get yourself to the hospital and get your stomach pumped!” I am all set with cherry trees, too. I picked some from my neighbor’s tree when I was probably around 10. We put them in a bag and went to eat them the next day, and they were full of worms! ACK!

I hope they were those little red crab apples. I think those are edible. :-)

Oh that would have freaked me out. I have this insane fear of my kids ingesting something poisonous outside. I’m insane.

When my kids eat something questionable, I watch for vomiting and/or strange behavior. Which is hard to distinguish from normal activity, to be honest.
