3. If the way you spent your New Year’s Eve is any indication of how the rest of the year will go, how would you say your future is looking right about now?
I spend my New Year’s Eve at home every single because Y2K.
I don’t always live in fear, but I do on New Year’s Eve. What if something blows up? What if a drunk driver hits me? If there were such a thing as a “past life” I believe mine probably ended on a New Year’s Eve somewhere.
And in another past life I was probably smashed between two semi trucks.
And I’m convinced in another past life I accidentally drove myself right off of a very high bridge which explains when I drive over them now thinking, “everything is fine, just look straight ahead…nothing to see anywhere else. Hundreds of people drive across this bridge everyday and never accidentally drive off of it. EVERYTHING IS FINE.”
In yet another past life I was attacked from behind while distracted on a phone call, which is why I’m always prepared to shove an elbow into anyone who sneaks up behind me. Don’t even!
I also think I may have been swallowed whole by a giant whale in my past life, which is why I can’t go in the ocean without fearing for my life.
If I believed in past lives I would believe this is my last life because usually in your last life you’re really centered and wise and…obviously. So I’ll probably die and turn into an angel and take my seat in heaven at the right side of the Father.
It’s also possible I need to go back to church this year and get my sh*t together.
So if my 2015 party of five is any indication of the year to come then I’d say it’s going to be spent feeling completely content, happy, and full on sushi and champagne.
And I’m definitely okay with that!
But will still steer clear of whales, bridges, semi-trucks, and attackers just to be sure.

I too spend the new years at home as it’s simply too crowded outside and dangerous too.

Our family spends the New Year with friends every year, which is always lovely, but this year I also spent some time getting acquainted with Fireball shots, which turned out not such a great New Year’s Day for me. Maybe 2016 will be better.

I don’t like going out anymore, on NYE, either. I love the way you spend you!
BTW – the email I got had different writing prompts that you listed above?
Mama Kat says
Oh I didn’t even realize until you mentioned it, but you’re right…I definitely did something weird and mixed up the writing prompts this week! You can still link yours up if the prompt is different. I’m not sure what I did there! lol #LOSINGIT ;)

Good advice! Past lives can really put a damper on things. Here’s to a year without bridges, whales, semi trucks and attackers!
Mama Kat says
Yes, past lives might cause a person to “live in fear” as they say. Definitely still avoiding the aforementioned!
Gig says
2015 is going to be great one; where you will be content and filled with sushi and champagne.
But yeah, stay away from whales, semis, bridges and attackers….you know, just in case.
Mama Kat says
Precisely! Can’t ever be too safe!
Katherine says
Finally, my fear of driving over bridges has been explained. All this time, I just thought I was crazy.

I am so sure I was a cat in my past life. I love warm milk, I love to nap {anytime, anywhere} and I love being massaged. LOL I was a cat for sure. I did come up with my word of the year and I have linked it. Very short and simple, yet empowering :)

I think a lot of those things… every time I do something, too. As I go around a corner and barely miss the telephone pole just STANDING there. Great post. And thanks for the outlet.
Mama Kat says
Oh those light posts are definitely out to get us.

The prompts listed here and the prompts the came in the email were completely different lists. Just letting you know.
Mama Kat says
Yeah, my wires criss crossed this week so I just added them all together on this post. What a weirdo.
Ally says
Totally legit fears, I think.
kelley says
so that’s how I explain my irrational fears. I must have spent a past life enclosed in a small dark place. Here’s to being content in 2015, that’s a great word for the year!
Astrid says
I laughed out loud at some of your ideas about your past lives, even though I understand it’s no fun living with fears. I do hope your year will be spent feeling content and happy, but not too much filled with champagne and sushi, cause it’d probably get boring. Or not, if you are filled with enough champagne.
May says
I can not for the life of me figure why any sane person would want to go out on New Year’s Eve. Sushi and champagne at home? You are playing my song!
Jenny says
This is so funny. I relate to all of that. We stay in on New Years and Fourth of July for those exact reasons and I have some weird fear of going over bridge’s to the point I plan how I would escape. My husband thinks I am a nut ;)
