I get a little nervous about accepting sponsored opportunities that include video because how in the world do you maintain your own silly demeanor while also creating a piece of content that the brand will enjoy? Even when it is a product I love and use daily, how do I avoid sounding like a commercial when I mention Bounty paper towels in my weekly drink video? (SO ABSORBENT)
Recently I was invited to work with CafeMom to share how I manage the Thanksgiving cleanup with my favorite P&G products. My sister and I put together an actual Thanksgiving feast and instructed our family to just “act natural” which is to say sloppy.
I have never laughed so much during the filming of a sponsored video. I now know that any brand I work with in the future will need to include a faux Thanksgiving dinner somehow. I’ll add it to my faux media kit.
