1. The last time my heart melted was because…
My heart is melting this week for six good reasons!:
1. This face.
I’ve been taking care of my great-niece since December and we all know nothing in life beats a baby’s sweet smile. I can’t get her to laugh yet, but it’s the only thing I can imagine that will top that sweet face. Granted…sometimes she’s feeling a little more like this:
But I still love her. And I melt all over again when I see that little tween of mine looking so loving. :)
2. This face.
Do you see the heart on her forehead!?! SO adorable. We’re fostering another greyhound named Lucky Charm and she’s a 1.5 year old deer. I guess she was a pretty terrible racer in order for them to retire her this early. This is our girl:
3. Saddest Yak Ever.
I let my kids talk me into going to the zoo the other day…never again. This poor little yak was snuggled up into his wire fence. It was all I could do not to bring him home.
4. That POUNCE tho!
I’m not even kidding, click play on that video and I cannot get enough of Sandy’s playful pouncing. She does this all the time to our other dog Jack. He’s forced to tolerate her all day.
5. This Guy.
Without saying too much…I will say that I had a bit of a challenging day. Maybe it included me being a day late turning in a draft for a sponsored blog post/video. Maybe it included me setting up a couple of kids to film a video with the product. Maybe we were losing light. Maybe I knew I had to get it filmed so that I could edit it quickly and send it over for approval. And maybe one of those kids vomited all over the place in the middle of the video. Mmmmmmmmm….that’s one way to drive home how delicious this sponsored product is!
I’ll get to the point…my heart melted because my wonderful husband saw the struggle and the mess and the defeat on my face at the end of the day and he brought home dinner and cleaned the kitchen. What a man!
6. I’m A Hero!
My wonderful 6th grader was asked to write a 5 paragraph essay about who her hero is and she chose me!!! She has definitely earned her way to the top of my will with gems like this, “My mom can make anyone happy, but she makes us happier than anyone in the whole world.” Is that not the sweetest thing EVER? I also loved this bit, “My last example is she loves our dad very much and she kisses him and makes him have fun with us.” I will never stop forcing the fun.
Commence heart melting.
The Prompts:
1. The last time my heart melted was because…
2. A list of 20 ideas to make this your best year yet.
3. Write about how you would spend the perfect Snow Day.
4. Write a blog post inspired by the word: fight.
5. If you could have given yourself a snapshot five years ago of what your life is like now, what would the picture be of and how do you think you would have felt about it?
6. Share a favorite recipe you have been loving.

I feel like a weird stalker waiting for this link to come up because I don’t want to do it tomorrow……. next post, the time when I was super lazy!
That little baby is adorable! I want to squeeze her.
So sweet of your hubby and so sweet of your daughter! It melted my heart those kind things she said about you. She loves you! You make her heart melt.
Thanks for the linky party and your beautiful post.
Your dogs are super adorbs too!
Mama Kat says
Ooh you got lucky because I never post this early! I’ve been trying to get better about that. I’m glad I didn’t leave you hanging until after midnight. lol I really do have some wonderful humans to love on! :)

Oh the baby….
Oh the dog with the poop muzzle…
Wait…
Is that why it’s wearing it? I’m just kidding.
My BFF’s dog’s wear them (she has two rescues and one foster grey hounds) and they have to wear them because they eat their poop. I mean it’s not because of their breed….it’s just her dogs are ummm…weird.
And your daughter wrote about you? I’d melt into a puddle. How are you even standing? LOL
this is just too much heart melting in one post. Where’s my dog? Time to snuggle you beast….
Mama Kat says
Oh! I’ve never heard of a poop muzzle, but it sounds like my littlest one definitely needs one! They wear muzzles for safety reasons and they’re actually raised with them so they’re quite used to it. There are so many of them running around and meeting new humans etc, it’s just safer for introductions and stuff. :)

That Yak! Poor Yak!
Such sweet pictures: the baby and your daughter and the puppers.
The husband picture is awesome with all the snow. When days just don’t go right, it’s nice to get a little helping hand.
The little things mean so much.
Mama Kat says
I agree, sometimes it’s those little things that mean the most. I love it when he’s so willing to give me a hand. Or a plate of dinner. lol

Oh, that’s a very heart-melty post! That baby’s face and your daughter’s essay? So sweet, all of it!
Mama Kat says
It’s all I can do to keep myself from smushing those cheeks together everyday!

Ah, my heart melts reading this post. I love that your 6th-grader chose you as a hero. You’ll cherish this when puberty comes along and you’re not so much of a hero anymore. (You’re talking about your child right, not a student?)
Mama Kat says
Yes, my daughter. And for sure I’ll hang on to that one as a little reminder there is a human in there that appreciates me, no matter what her hormones tell me later on in life!
Gigi says
I love that baby so very much and I’ve never even met her!
Mama Kat says
She’s such a little doll!!

Aside from yaks, life is looking pretty darned wonderful out your way.
Mama Kat says
Life would be too perfect if we didn’t throw in the sad yaks every once in awhile.
