Kainoa gave me this spectacular gift and looked on proudly as I admired it.
He described in detail how his teacher painted his hands to create the flowers.
He took special care to point out every line in the adorable poem that was attached to it.
I thanked him profusely for making my Mother’s Day so wonderful with his spectacular gift.
It seems my praise greatly increased the value of the gift because he suggested it might be a good idea for me to pay him for it.
I politely declined and explained how Mother’s Day works.
He told me I was rude for not getting him something and then ignored me for half the day before taking his gift back.
I might have lectured him before finally yelling, “You’re. Not. A. MOTHER!”
He has a point though. Without children we would have no Mother’s Day to celebrate. Maybe we SHOULD be thanking them.
That evening it seems he was in a better mood because I found my gift waiting on my pillow. I knew he’d come around.
Happy Mother’s Day!
