1. Throwback Thursday: Choose a photo from a previous May and write a poem or a blog post.
One of my smartest moves and biggest mistakes was connecting Laina’s text messaging to my own phone. I TRY not to look at what she is discussing with her friends, but it’s RIGHT THERE. So I look. Sometimes I pull her aside and say things like “Laina, you can’t tell your friends what they have to buy you for your birthday” or “Laina, if your friend does not answer your text right away, you cannot text her mother to tell your friend to text you.”
My girl has one foot in tween life and the other in a childhood that I know she’d like to hang on to. She loves Katy Perry, but she also loves watching The Lion King. She loves YouTube videos, but she also loves playing with her Littlest Pet Shops.
She is gifted in the way that she can play for hours on her own. She has been lining up toys and creating storylines out of them since she was two. I can’t wait to see where that imagination takes her.
Her biggest dream is to one day own a piece of property that she can use to help rescue dogs and she spends a lot of her free time training our own dogs to do various tricks.

This girl of mine, who hugs without being prompted and lights up the world with her smile but also refuses to take no for an answer and asks the same question 3,313 times because she either forgets what the original answer was, is hoping for a different answer, or simply likes to discuss the topic (dogs, her future, her childhood, boys, LPS, etc) one more time.
I love her.
Happy 11th Birthday Lolli!
You turned three.
You turned four.
You turned five.
You turned six.
You turned seven.
You turned eight.
You turned nine.
You turned ten.

That’s if we make it through the teens in one piece. ;)

Happy birthday, Laina! You sound like an amazing child. May your dreams take you farther than even you can imagine.
I love the part about her acting out stories with her dolls. Mine used to line up her dolls and teach them, and so now she is a high school math teacher.

Isn’t it funny how their gifts just shine through even in something as simple as playing house? Love them.

Happy Birthday! Time passes impossibly fast. Enjoy your time with her.

It’s insane. She aged a lifetime in 11 years and I’m still 20. Not sure how that happens.

Happy birthday to your amazing little girl who is not so little any more!

But she’s still a trouble maker… ;)

Happy Birthday to your daughter!
How do you see her text? I had no idea you could link up to text. That’s pretty amazing.
Mama Kat says
It was all by accident, but I THINK if you go to your phone settings, scroll to the “send and receive” option, and then click to “add another email”, you should be able to add the email address associated with the phone/ipod you want to sync up with and then start receiving her texts (but she doesn’t see mine).
