Summer is coming.
SUMMER IS COMING!!
Our last day of school is June 23rd and honestly I do not know who is more excited, me or the kids. You may not recall, but the beginning of this school year was a little overwhelming for my first year middle schooler. I ended up enrolling her in an online school, but take her two and from her middle school for electives twice a day. Someday I’ll write a post about what the pressure of school coupled with anxiety did to my little girl, but it was clear this year we need to regroup. So we regrouped.
Thank God for my Mom because when I realized the plan for this year needed some revising, she stepped up for the morning drive so that I could run a daycare and then baby Harper and I have been going back and forth every afternoon. It’s fine, it’s worked out fine BUT it has been challenging as well.
Needless to say I can’t WAIT for our last day of school and here is how I plan to spend it:
1. Not Driving
2. In my pajamas
3. Not waking a sleeping baby
4. Encouraging the children to prepare my meals
5. Taking my meals in bed
6. Encouraging the children to clean my house
7. Toasting to the children from bed
8. Not running a daycare
9. Not chasing kids out the door to catch a bus
10. Celebrating!
How will you spend your last day of school/first day of summer vacation?
Jerralea says
June 23? Wow, our schools in my area get out like May 24. You are definitely in need of a break.
Good luck on getting the kids to cook and clean!
Mama Kat says
MAY!?! Oh man, I wish!!

school ended for us a few weeks ago, things haven’t changed much for me day to day except June is vacation month which is almost as busy as school. I like July and August. That is when things slow down and I can play in the yard with the grandkids. I hope you get the rest you need and I understand the whole kid and anxiety thing. We had one child that we had to take to an alternative school and another that stayed home from school for a year and a tutor came twice a week. She had one class she had to go up to and she was a little bit like that ninja mom making her way into the building so no kids would see her. :( sad. Anxiety is a devil.

Anxiety IS a devil. You sound like you know exactly where I’m coming from!

The Steve Martin pic at the end from that movie about the big family was my favorite! Made me laugh.
Mama Kat says
There’s nothing quite like that old school comedy!
Gigi says
Holy cow – when do your kids start school? Our schools let out on Friday – which was kinda late because of snow make up days.
Mama Kat says
We didn’t have any snow days this year sadly! The kids will go back the first week in September I think.
