3. Book review!
I’ve been reading more this year than I have since my kids were babies and I’m loving it. I walk into a bookstore and bask in the smell of all that paper, bound together by glue and covered in pretty pictures. I want to read them all. I have an Excel sheet that lists all of the books I want to read in one column, all the books I’ve read so far this year in another column, and then I rate all of those books on Goodreads. Not only do these lists make me feel productive, but they also help me remember when I’ve already read something. I tend to forget.
Because I’m a giant nerd, I also take pictures of my books and put them on Instagram with a favorite quote from the book. However, since I read most of my books on my phone I don’t actually have the books to take pictures of so I drive to Barnes And Noble, locate the books I finished and take pictures of them in the store before leaving empty handed. Actually that’s not entirely true, I usually have a child with me and buy them a book.
I’ve been sharing my short book reviews on the books I’ve been reading, but today I want to share one of my favorite humans on YouTube who has helped pull me from the depths of the reading block that has claimed the last EIGHT YEARS OR SO of my life. Meet Christine aka polandbananaBOOKS on YouTube. She is like the kooky, passionate, intelligent little sister I never had (no offense to the little sister I do have). Some of the best books I’ve read this year have been recommendations from her and you should watch her too. She’s my favorite booktuber!:
If you’re ever in a book slump, check out Christine’s channel and she will save you as she has saved me.
Now it’s your turn!
