I mentioned last month that I am working as a Northwest Native Ambassador for Adams® Natural Peanut Butter as they celebrate 100 years in the Pacific Northwest! I have been tasked with three fun challenges and the first I shared was hosting a community picnic. I set up a pb&j bar and invited my family to join me in some serious sandwich making at Washington’s very first national park, Larrabee State Park.
This month, my task was to revisit a nostalgic spot from my childhood and leave behind a message along with some of my favorite Adams Natural Peanut Butter jars. I knew right away that I wanted to go back to the neighborhood I grew up in. My sisters and brothers and I have so many great memories biking up and down those streets with our cousins and neighbor friends, but I wanted to specifically focus on one of our many picnic spots. There was a dead end in our neighborhood where we thought all of the rich people lived and we would climb up the wall at the entrance of the street with lunches in tow and picnic together to our hearts content.
So I filled a basket with crackers, apples, chocolates, coloring essentials, a journal and of course plenty of Adams Peanut Butter. I added a note sharing my mission and I left the basket behind for a new friend to enjoy.
I hope someone out there is paying it forward with a friend on a picnic of their own today! It was so much fun driving through the neighborhood with my kids, pointing out who lived where and feeling entirely too old. The neighborhood shrunk in size, the yards are smaller than I remember and there wasn’t a familiar face in sight. I’m not sure how that happened, but I swear the distance between my house and the picnic wall was SO much greater than what it appears to be now.
Next month my challenge is to embark on my own physical challenge. I will use Adams Peanut Butter to fuel my journey. I’ve already got my adventure picked out and I’m not particularly thrilled about the difficulty level, but for Adams…I’ll do it. Challenge accepted!
Big thanks to Adams® Natural Peanut Butter for sponsoring this conversation (and picnic) The opinions and text are all mine.

Lots of wonderful memories from that neighborhood. #7 (you can ask your Mother who that would be) loved coming over to visit. We would sometimes trade 7 for Jeff.

I found the basket! I love peanut butter, I am personal care giver to the people living in the house near the basket who have lived here for about 60 pluse years!

How fun to leave a picnic basket for someone! I always like revisiting old places and seeing how they’ve changed. It’s a cool idea to have these challenges to complete for the posts. Good luck on your next one!

Whaooo, this is so cute. A part of me would have stayed or watched patiently until somebody comes along to pick up he basket. Nice one,
