Maile turned 13 on Saturday and to celebrate we spent the day painting with family and friends, shopping at Target and enjoying a special Red Robin dinner just for the birthday girl. She said it was the best birthday yet.
THIRTEEN! I don’t know how time keeps making my kids so old when I just graduated from high school five years ago.
At 13, Maile is already more mature than I am, she typically has a better handle my own schedule than I do and she definitely gets better grades than I ever did.
Now that she’s an actual teenager I’m definitely side eyeing her, waiting for that snotty rebellion to appear, but so far she’s been very good to us.
Maybe I’ve dodged a bullet and our family will be the first ever documented family with a pleasant, well behaved teen!
It feels good to make history! Even if I’m only two days in.
Happy 13th Birthday Maile!
Happy Fourth Birthday
Happy Fifth Birthday
Happy Sixth Birthday

Happy Ninth Birthday

I had one of those perfect teens…until she hit 16, when she was taken over by some evil hormonal monster who made her unappreciative and surly – but on the good side, it was about the same time that the oldest daughter turned back into a human at age 19. Seems like all it took was abandoning her at college for a year to make her think her mom wasn’t so bad after all. :)
