My most popular YouTube videos involve me playing with tiny animal toys in my daughter’s room while she’s at school. I’ve mentioned before that I vented about these Littlest Pet Shop toys without realizing what a huge following they had on YouTube…which is how I came to stumble upon my accidental YouTube audience.
The first video I did about them has 500,000 views on it. And now every video I make contain a handful of tweens commenting things like “When are you going to make more LPS video?” or “This is cute, but I love your LPS videos” or “Why are you basically telling us to drink alcohol when you should be making LPS videos. We’re kids!”
I usually respond by asking them to share my Friday drink videos with their parents…my TARGET AUDIENCE.
If I were smart, I would make these videos weekly and try to cash in, but as it turns out they’re my least favorite type of video to make because they require me to think of a story to share that has plenty of dialogue. Re-tell the story using mostly dialogue, and then try to remember which characters I need to “talk” on camera. I have to set up a restaurant, a school playground, a forest, etc. And when I don’t have the right prop I want, I add it in while editing and then have to be careful to move it around in every scene with my little characters.
At this point I’m uploading them once or twice a month. Here is the latest in the series:

Some of my favorite comments so far include:
“Theme of the lesson is honesty. She teaches you ten lies if you don’t want to say your name.”
“She went so off track”
“Out of all 7 of those things you could do instead of say your name I really think saying never mind would be the nicest.”
“I love these videos. The bad thing about the channel is I’m worried when I get notifications someone’s gonna read it and it will say Cocktail or something XD.”
And they’re right of course. Kids don’t let anything slide! I’ll never be able to keep up with the demand of the adorable LPS Tween Brigade on YouTube, but I will forever be entertained at how much attention they give these videos that I started making by mistake.
What do you love watching on YouTube?

I like watching videos on Disneyland, the Monday Minute, the drink videos that are meant for your target audience ;), WFTDA Roller Derby Games, and sometimes I watch Adam the Woo but have stopped as of recent because of his kinda scary obsessive fans and their comments.
If I need a mood pick me up, I watch funny cats and movie mistakes.
