1. Share your 2017 New Year Resolution. How did last year’s turn out?
In 2015 I declared my resolutions for the year would include:
- Drink more water
- Eat salad every night
- Cook more
- Clean more
- Upload YouTube videos 4 days a week
- Lose 10 pounds
- Be nicer to my husband
In 2016 I added the following to the list:
- Walk your damn dogs.
In 2017 I can say honestly that I had forgotten all about my previous resolutions and looking them over, I feel like they’re really good ideas for this year too so I’ll go ahead and carry them on over.
Which is to say, I failed at conquering the list I began building two years ago. Scratch that, I think I drink plenty of water now. I’m giving myself a little credit and taking that one off the list. I’m also taking off ‘be nicer to my husband’ because let’s be real, he’s pretty damn lucky and I’m plenty nice. For this year I’ll add:
- Pay off those credit cards
- Fix my house. We need new carpet, patched walls, updated paint…it’s time!
That’s it. This is going to be MY year! Next year at this time I will be 10 pounds slimmer, I’ll be filming a YouTube video of myself fixing a salad for dinner after walking my dogs around my sparkling clean/updated house and I’ll be loaded with cash, living that debt free life. Just you watch!
What are your resolutions this year?

I don’t make resolutions but I love a fresh start. I began the year with a brand-new head cold, so I feel like 2017 is already starting off great. Maybe I should just more water.
Andrea says
*DRINK* more water. Drink. Stupid cold.
Mama Kat says
Starting off the year with a head cold is never a good idea. I don’t recommend it.

Girl, where are those extra 10 pounds you’re packing? Are they invisible? Are you talking about 10 pounds in scrapbook supplies because I have like a hoarded supply that I am kind of ashamed of and I need to drop off at the goodwill or something because I cannot scrapbook that many things in my lifetime — but seriously though, you look fabulous.
I don’t make resolutions because I am not dedicated. Just kidding. I’m totally lazy. I hate the gym and cookies taste better than grassy stuff. But I like choosing words. So that’s what i did. I do respect those that make resolutions though. Power to all of you. It’s tough!
Mama Kat says
I take great care to hide those extra pounds. I’m very pleased to hear that it’s working and you can’t see them, but I am a SOLID 10-15 pounds heavier than I need to be at my height. But thank you!! I’m actually anti-resolution too. I forget them all the time. lol! More cookies please!!

I only have two resolutions:stop biting my nails and blog more…. *spits out finger nail*
Eh, maybe next year will be better for my nails lol
Mama Kat says
I used to bite my nails too! So weird that I was able to stop because it’s such a mindless habit! I think I wanted to start wearing nail polish and it just looked bad on my chewed up nails.
Jennice Powell says
I’m actually going to use nail polish as a barrier to my nails. I figure the nail polish will keep me from biting them.Wish me luck!
Morgan says
I have a science trick for reasons to stop chewing your nails. :)

I am loving your NYE pics! I’m trying to workout more. Of course, today was the first day of the year that I did. But isn’t there a first-week, post-holiday grace period?
Mama Kat says
Thanks! You tackle new workout schedules like I do! lol!
Mackenzie says
I don’t make resolutions anymore because I break them faster than you can say oops, lol :) Good luck with your goals for 2017!
Marcy says
I don’t make New Year’s resolutions, but I start little new projects at random times throughout the year, and each one feels like a fresh start.
“he’s pretty damn lucky and I’m plenty nice”–ha ha, love the spirit here. Refreshing.
Happy new year.

I decided this year that I am going to be more awesome at roller derby by joining a WFTDA league as well as the MADE league I currently play in.
Also, do house stuffs. I have nothing on my walls either.
John Holton says
The resolution thing never quite worked for me, nort did the word o’ the year.
Adrienne says
Very practical list! I always need your no-nonsense approach. Keeps me on my toes! I was doing GREAT with water, then let up a bit…and boy, do I feel it. So, that one’s back on my list! The ‘shopping less’ that’s on my list will def help with those dang credit cards too!
Mama Kat says
I’m always good at not shopping when I’ve just finished shopping, but a month later I’m like “I think I need something…” lol Water forces me to drink because my face breaks out if it’s not hydrated and I’m too old for acne! ;)

My humble home could use some fixing (and cleaning t0 be honest) as well. One daughter told us we have been talking about how we just had to remove the disgusting carpet from our family room since she was in high school She was in the class of 2011! She then proceeded to pull out the carpet herself. So, we are currently putting new flooring in the family room!
