3. The last thing that made you laugh.
Is it Thursday already? Today is our last day in Hawaii and naturally I’ve lost all track of days and time by now. I look forward to getting back to my dogs, that baby niece of mine, and my routine…but I’m also not done being Wow-ed by this island.
I realized that part of me was really wanting to get home so that my kids would stop bickering with each other due to being together in such close quarters all day and then it hit that this is actually summer. They will not be going back to school when we return and I’ve only just had a taste of what is to come with their tweenage irritability.
At least I can still depend on them for a good laugh. Last night, Kainoa was standing on his bed and attempting to yank a power cord out of the wall. All very safe and normal behavior. I didn’t realize what he was doing until he yelped in pain. While yanking the cord, he actually raised his hand into the ceiling fan. I jumped up and said a quick prayer that I wasn’t going to need to make a late night trip to a hospital somewhere (Pat was at dinner with friends). While the incident cracked his fingernail in half I was glad to see Jesus answered my prayer by keeping the rest of his finer in tact.
Kainoa and I hopped in the car to get band-aids and on the way there he was all, “I just can’t believe I did that. I should have known the fan was up there. This is my TAPPING finger!”
Of all things, my son is frustrated that he won’t be able to properly tap his electronics. How will those Singing Monsters perform? How will he catch Pokemon? Where will Steve live in the land of Minecraft? He may have to resort to using a second finger, but I for one am glad that he’s got them all today and am grateful he can manage to make me laugh on late night trips for band-aids.

Kids…they have the ability to make your heart jump up to your throat one minute and then laugh in the next!!
Glad to hear he’s okay. The TAPPING finger will make a full recovery.

Yes, he’s my one that is really good at bouncing back!

Glad no hospital run was necessary and his finger will be okay.
Mama Kat says
Me too! Hoping a bandaid will do the trick and it will heal up!

Could have been worse no doubt, but I think a fingernail split in two is going to have its painful moments as it heals. (especially every time he forgets and using it to tap!)
Mama Kat says
I agree, I can’t even look at it without cringing.

Tapping finger? Who would know that a finger could cause so much angst. So thankful to hear it wasn’t worse.
