3. Who needs a vacation when you can spend your summer doing this…
You know I love me some Greyhounds, but last May I turned an application in to our local humane society to foster kittens and this month it finally happened.
A litter of three week old kittens needed a home where they could grow big and strong enough for adoption. We collected them last Saturday along with a surrogate kitty mom and I am in love.
The surrogate kitty mom actually gave birth to her own litter of kittens and has been living in a foster home to raise them. The foster home she was at is adopting two of her kittens AND her, but when they brought her in to be spayed the humane society had three little ones in need of a mother. They decided to see if she would accept the big job of raising our foster kittens and she is doing great!
The babies are tiny, but gaining weight everyday and I’m telling you, if I could keep kittens in this house for the rest of my life I would never need another vacation. They are the sweetest.
I have decided my new life calling will be to drive litters of kittens to peoples houses for therapy kitten sessions because when you sit in a room with those little drunk sailors and their tiny squeaky mews, you can’t help but smile. Why isn’t that a thing? Why can’t we order a litter of adoptable kittens for playtime in our living rooms on any given day? It needs to be a thing.
We won’t stop at kittens. Puppies too. And bunnies. And baby goats. The possibilities are endless. Baby animals make everything better. But I will not be delivering litters of baby humans…that would just be terrifying.

This is a thing?
This is a real thing?
OH. MY heart!!!!!! My son would love to do something like this!!!

It’s a thing!! Contact your local humane society and inquire about their foster program. The only thing I’m not sure about is that if the kittens didn’t have a mom I think we’re supposed to bottle feed them and I just…I can’t commit to that. I would never be able to deal with a kitten death because I slept through a feeding. BUT, slightly older kittens YES!

They are ADORABLE!!!

Right!? I just love them!!

Awwww… they’re adorable! My favorite is that little solid-black one at the top. I love black cats! And the tuxedo and the tabby are just as cute. I’d offer to take them off your hands, but we’ve decided the bunch we have now is the end of the line. We’ve been kitty parents for almost 40 years, and now I’m retired and disabled…
Mama Kat says
I used to have a black cat too. Nicest cat ever! I’m sure Pat would be thrilled to retire cats as our pets, but I’m like you…I think I’ll always have one.

OMG, precious! You and the… uhm… wet nurse are doing a wonderful thing, but I would love to have that going on in my house. It’s not a thing yet? Tell Amazon, they’ll do it!
Mama Kat says
I call her a wet nurse too! Hahaha! Poor thing. She’s doing a good job. I should tell Uber. It can be Uber Pets!

aawww. adorable babies. Blue eyes on that black one? I’d never be able to give them up. And on your comment you left on my blog: the time consuming thing is collecting the game recordings. That’s done gradually while playing the game. I keep up with the general editing for most useful stuff the next day. then when I put it together, I fine tune the editing, but the whole putting together part goes fairly quickly. I’m getting faster at it every time.

My son is an incoming Freshman at the University of Louisville, and one of the many stress-reducing activities they have during finals week is “puppy time”. The local Humane Society brings in litters of puppies (they should have kitty hours, too!) and the students can snuggle a pup. I have NO DOUBT my son will lie down spread-eagle on his back and just let the pups crawl all over him. He’s never lived without a dog. If he drops food in his dorm room he won’t even realize he has to pick it up!
Mama Kat says
Oh I love that there are places that actually make things like “puppy time” a reality! How cool is that!!
