4. Write a blog post that ends with the word: last.
It’s not that I want my kids to have to wake up at 6am every morning. I don’t celebrate long days at school spent navigating between classes, teachers and friends. I don’t rejoice at the homework they have to spend time on. Maybe it’s because I wasn’t much of a scholar myself, so the thought of sending my kids off for another year of learning makes me feel sort of sorry for them. School is hard!
That being said…I. Am. So. Ready.
It has been a busy summer here, but no matter how full we fill it, they’re still bored.
Boredom in this house leads to bickering which leads to hitting which inevitably leads to crying. Children who are bored in this house make slime, but don’t clean up their slimy mess. Bored children here throw all cushions from couches and leave wrappers and garbage strewn about. They spend an embarrassing amount of time on electronics and get too hot and eat all day long.
I believe the children would like unlimited access to money and transportation.
I believe they would also like a mother who’s only concern is focused on what sort of adventure they might partake in each day.
Forget the household chores and job and baby nieces in my care, what can I do to keep their boredom at bay?
I’ve determined it’s a boredom that only a day filled with math problems and grammar lessons can cure.
It is for that reason I welcome the beginning of a new school year.
Seven more days until school starts and the boredom can end at long last!

Wow, ya’ll start school late. The public school kids here started on August 16th! Even though I home school, I can so relate to needing things to start so we started as soon as my hubby (a public school teacher) went back for teacher workdays. Hang in there!

I guess they frown on “Go out and play in traffic!” I used to get that a lot when I was their age…
