5. Write a blog post inspired by the word: messy.
I’ve been fostering kittens. We’re currently caring for our…4th litter…5th litter? I’ve lost track. I’ve been sharing updates on YouTube. One video talks about and shows off our first litter, the second video talks about a litter of kittens we were bottle feeding, and most recently I shared a video about some “hissy” kittens we took care of. While the videos I’ve made are fun and informative and adorable, they do leave out some of the less fun things about fostering kittens:
When I decided to foster kittens I imagined snuggling with them and that’s about it. I did not imagine feeding them around the clock or worrying about them if we were away too long.
I did not imagine how they would think I was their mother and bombard me when I enter the “kitten room” and try to eat me alive.
And while I was warned…I did not imagine how messy they would be. If I set soft food out for them, they walk through it like they can’t see it. They track that food all over the room and while they can and do use the litter box, they also have accidents. Imagine if each of my six foster kittens had just ONE accident a day. I can’t deal.
Now imagine if each kitten had one accident and you foster several litters over the course of a few months.
When we are done fostering kittens, I’m going to pour bleach all over that room and then light it on fire. I don’t know if it will ever smell like a normal room again. These kittens are messy and I definitely need a better system, but they are really cute!

the local shelter always asks for foster parents for the many kittens they have. I have been tempted, but know I would fall in love and never let them go. So, I admire those that do foster and enjoy my cat that came from that shelter.

I’m so tempted everyyyyy time. However, when I want to adopt again my goal will be to adopt two grown cats who need to stay together. Kittens are just too easy to fall in love with them and everyone snags them quickly. It’s hard to say goodbye, but I have to trust someone out there is going to shower them with love because when they’re tiny they’re just so darn lovable!

Ain’t no such thing as an “accident,” whether you’re talking about a kitten or a full-grown cat. Forty years of experience with more cats than a sane person would have in their house have taught me that.
But I wouldn’t have it any other way. Your latest crowd is adorable.

You mean to tell me you think these kittens are peeing/pooping outside of their litter box ON PURPOSE!? I can’t believe those darling faces could be capable of such malice.

They get very fussy about the box. Could be it hasn’t been scooped to their satisfaction, could be some other kitty used it, maybe they don’t like the litter, etc. And you get to figure it out… I know, it’s a pain, but it’s worth it.

I’m in love with all the kitteh faces! I know all of them appreciate the hard work you are doing to get them into a home!

I think if they really appreciated me, they would stop shitting on my floor. lol USE THE LITTER BOX KITTIES!

We got a little black kitten this weekend. He’s using his litter box so far. Maybe because he finally gets a box all to himself!

But… they’re ADORABLE!
(That would have to be my mantra if I ever decide to foster kittens, but our current cat won’t have it.)

They really are so cute!! Our current cat has no idea they’re here. They just stay in our spare bedroom and I’m pretty sure she’s deaf.

Aww, so cute. Though, I never thought of what a mess they might be to have. I ‘d have to keep every one, I’d love them so much.
