6. List 8 things you would like to do during Spring Break.
Every time the kids have a break from school, I actually think I will have something fun planned everyday. I don’t know who I think I am. The excitement of the free days off of school makes me forget that I still actually have to work. I still actually have my three nieces to to take care of and typically some sort of deadline to meet. With that being said, Spring Break for us is next week and we are going to do SO MANY THINGS!:
1. Explore Seattle
There are so many things to do downtown. Every time my kids are on a break I swear I’ll take them somewhere cool. For sure this time, right?
2. Find a Wall
I’ve been following Instagram accounts that post pictures in front of random painted walls and when I searched them up in our area I found that people had listed Instagram-able walls. I took Maile to one the other weekend and it was a fun little scavenger hunt. I think we’ll find another wall during Spring Break.
3. Let’s Go To The Movies!
This is such an easy time killer and my kids are at an age where they can go without my supervision. I just wish the cost of going to the movies was as easy to say yes to.
4. Shop Til We Drop
An adventure in the mall is like the movies. An easy time killer, but not as easy on the wallet.
5. Make Cookies
Baking is something I always trick myself into believing everyone enjoys. I think I just like the smell of baked goods in the house, but nobody really eats them. There is always a mess left behind and at the end of the day the kids are still complaining about wanting to go somewhere.
6. Go Whale Watching
It’s whale watching season and I’ve always wanted to do this with the kids. Question is, can they handle a four hour boating excursion? Better question is can I handle a 4 hour boating excursion? We have never gone because I’ve never been able to answer either of those questions.
7. Inner Tubing at Snoqualmie
Every year I swear I’ll introduce my kids to this awesomely fun sledding hill. There is a contraption that even carries you back up. No work involved at all and there is still snow on that mountain!
8. Staycation!
I. Love. Staycations. Driving somewhere that only takes a couple of hours and yet makes you feel so far away is my jam. Exploring our pretty state is so much fun.
In reality, the kids have an orthodontist appointment…we’ll probably stop by Target on the way home and I’ll buy sidewalk chalk to start off the fun week. The kids will say they’re too old for sidewalk chalk. They’ll complain all week that they’re bored. I will encourage them to take the sidewalk chalk outside. They will refuse. I will feel annoyed that I wasted money on my one attempt to provide Spring Break fun and I will refuse to spend another dime until the sidewalk chalk is gone. The sidewalk chalk will never get opened and 4 years from now I will donate it to Good Will.

Every year I’d have these great plans for Spring Break. But yeah, we always ended up at Target. And the crowds reminded me why we never do anything on Spring Break – LOL! I love the painted wall idea, though.

What Instagram accounts do you follow that feature painted walls? Those sound interesting.
I spent two weeks in Seattle about 15 years ago, and the one decent day I was there (and it was gorgeous: 75 degrees and not a cloud in the sky; the next day it was overcast and twenty degrees cooler) I took a boat ride that was about half an hour long that basically covered the skyline. That might be something to do…

HA! The ideal vs. reality.
We already had our spring break, and I had similar visions. We met some of them?
Good luck!!

The wall seeking sounds fun.
Any tree can tolerate a few low branches trimmed off at the trunk, but if you wanted branches thinned all over a tree or have it cut rounded all over or something, there lots of trees that don’t mind, like oaks, hictory, magnolia, That’s why an Arborist can be helpful.

The whale watching sounds fun but is there anything to do on the boat on the way out and the way in? And I feel ya on the movies it is crazy expensive.
We had a staycation again this year for spring break and just ventured out to new hiking trails we had not been to before. We used the Alltrails app and there are so many trails around us that I did not even know existed. We also took spring break as an opportunity to try out restaurants in our surrounding areas that we have always wanted to try. Way cheaper then going to the theme parks in Orlando and the plus was there were no crowds ;)
